I think that's exactly what Nintendo wants to do. "It worked for the 3DS, why not Wii U?" is what they might be thinking.

Sweet. I wonder what they will they discuss about during E3 though. Maybe mention Smash pre-E3 and then show trailer during the week of E3?

Yes, and WiiU is getting an upgraded Wind Waker Just like 3DS got an upgraded OoT.

The way I see it, Mario Kart U this year Is the only of the big 3 needed as its the biggest seller and will be accompanied by Wind Waker, Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U as system sellers during the holidays. 3D Mario will come Q1 next year to keep post holiday momentum high then Smash Bros Q2. Kinda in a way like Wii, it had Galaxy, Kart and Brawl all release within 6 months of each other.

Out those 3 I'm pretty sure only Mario Kart will come out this year. Smash Bros. and 3D Mario will be delay to next year, or heck even 2 years knowing Nintendo >.>

They didn't only have Mario Kart and 3D Land though ;o. Another 30-40% price cut combined with those games might do it 

Ya but outside of those 2 games, OoT, Star Fox there wasnt many games during the holidays. Wii U has Pikmin, Luigi U, Wind Waker, Wii Party, W101, Splinter Cell, Rayman, Watch Dogs, AC4, COD, Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and I think Mario Kart all from Aug-end of the year so it might not need a price cut although I think its very possible it will.
