Forums - Nintendo - If Nintendo exits gaming, where would Zelda go? Where would all of their franchises go!!!

It can come to Sony ^^ I wouldn't say no to a Zelda game coming ps3/ps4

The only correct answer is PC or Linux, so that they can keep having their hardware free to be shaped by the software.

Seriously spurge. Your threads make me think that you're as much a Nintendo fan as Quisling was a Norwegian patriot.

I LOVE ICELAND!

theres no way Nintendo is going to be out anytime soo, not a chance, forget about it

we would see a complete restructuring (ala Sony ;)] long before that

These threads really need to stop. Nintendo isn't going to "exit gaming". Their franchises are going to stay right where they have been for decades. Move along.

I will answer the same as every other thread like this...and there have been a few...
I think Nintendo should go with Sony. At least then I'll only need one console each gen. Also, it would be nice to see Nintendo going back to making games that graphically can compete with the best of any future gens. I doubt they'll ever do that with their own consoles.

I remember some Nintendo representatives said if Nintendo's hardware goes down, they are taking their software with them.

Going down with the ship...
Even if it was a shareholder or investor decision it would still happen because in Japan they give most of the say to the founding family, which is Mr Yamauchi.

Don't kid yourself, Hiroshi Yamauchi only holds 10% of Nintendo.

Here ist the actual share distribution:

Will the 43% foreign institutions/individuals or the 24% Japanese financial institutions "go down with the ship" in the name of misguided honor and sentimental values?

As long as Nintendo stays in the hardware business they should stick to the exclusivity of their franchises... to go multiplatform with their IPs would hurt their hardware sales a lot!

But if they decide to leave the hardware business in a few (or more years) due to the hard competition they can't keep up, restructuring of their company to software only would be a viable option. The strength of Nintendo is the software (super fun games), not the hardware. The games would be great on any platform.

Pride is a bad business advisor.

Consoles are dying.

Nintendo's IPs are largely appealling to the more casual consumer and younger consumer and therefore would be best suited to mobile.

Let's face it NSMB on tablet would sell 100m units easy.

Zelda would be similar to DS versions. Metroid in M:oM style would work fine. Pikmin and Fire Emblem would be especially well suited to mobile.

Really the only Nintendo IPs not suited to mobile would be Metroid Prime and console style Zelda but both would run brilliantly on Android (or rumoured Apple) devices with dual analog controls.

Until WiiU there was no such thing as HD Nintendo gaming so the lack of sheer horsepower in tablets/Android devices wouldn't be missed. Heck, some are already more powerful than Wii.

I know this won't be a popular opinion here, but Nintendo IPs would selling gangbusters on mobile.

Even if Nintendo stopped making consoles, they would still make handhelds, since all of their handhelds always perform very well. I really hate these kinds of threads. Sony is more likely than anyone to stop making consoles, considering that their gaming division lost billions this generation, they appear to have given up on the Vita, and the PS4 will likely struggle at launch, considering that all 8th gen consoles have.
