Shame that he will get fired for this.
Shame that he will get fired for this.
AW BLOODY HELL NO, now I see. To get fired just 'cause you didn't wanna snitch and to top it all, would still get fired even if he did. No something is bloody wrong here!
I don't care what type of sex you are or your preference, if you've been scamming I would call you off! If it applies to me, then it applies the same to you!

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

Political correctness is out of hand, minorities shouldn't get a free pass for being so.

A con artist is a con artist. I see equal rights comming with equal responsibilities. It shouldn't matter their gender, race, etc.
As others have stated, they might have done just fine being honest.
It was like that horrible rich lady who make her kid do something like that to raise money for summer camp. When the mom was rich and had plenty of money. I don't think we should say, 'Oh, she is a mom, we shouldn't proscaute her for fraud.'
I don't understand the transgener thing, as it's not my situation. Nor is a stomach stapeling. But I can still have compassion for the people that need it.
It's a truly awful situation for him to be in alright, and I don't think he deserves to be fired for it. Having the problems on his mind in the first place must be bad enough.
Destructoid is far from an ethical website in any case, considering that no small part of their popularity comes from their resident troll Jim Sterling, and besides, the writer did nothing wrong. All he did was report the truth.
That is rough stealing money to have a sex change!!! what about people that are actually dying that need donations!
If a person talks about this with the media and behaves like an idiot and wants to kill oneself I see no problem with the reporter writing about it.
Especially when the idiot said "dont talk about it or I will kill myself" . And then tries it anyway. Trying to commit suicide was somewhat the breach of the "don't talk about it or I will do it-contract" if you know what I mean.
Seriously if people decide to be trans-gender or gay or vegetarian or whatever whats the problem when the media is talking about that? Its not that the reporter just mentioned the trans-gender story to hate on people like that he did that to talk about the scam and whatnot.
I mean whats the difference between that and cheating on ones wife/husband and that ending up in the media etc or stuff like reporting that Prince Harry is not the real son of Prince Charles etc.?

That someone might get fired over this while Jim Sterling is the website's figurehead and focal-point is ludicrous.
As for the actual story, Allistair Pinsof did the right thing. Sagal being transgendered is a vital and relative part of the scam. It cannot be glossed over. Sagal was committing fraud and should thus lose all consideration in terms of the details behind the situation.
I have no idea at all how Destructoid can hold this position. Pinsof should probably quit in protest; either that, or consider legal representation.
I really have no respect for that website anymore, which is a shame since I'm a fan of Dale North and Chad Concelmo.

That's how I see it. If it weren't at all relevant to the story and Sagal had been scamming people for, say, rent money, then it would be a pretty dick move and should perhaps be a fireable offense to just casually drop that information. But given the nature of the story, I don't think it's good journalism to leave that kind of information out (even though Sagal hardly needed "outing" in the first place).
