Forums - Gaming Discussion - GT5 passes Halo Reach in global lifetime sales!

Sorry, I don't get the comparison...

what you are saying is the best selling PS3 exclusive has outsold a 360 game that isn't the 360's best selling exclusive? And?

OK then, er.... Great!

I'm not really here!

Well  there are more people that buy an Xbox just for Halo then there are that buy a PS3 just to play Grand Turismo. That should be a sign as to which brand is more powerful.

Hmm you're right

But wasnt Kinect Adventures pretty much bundled with Every Kinect like how Wii Sports was pretty much bundled with every Wii?

There really isn't that much of a competition.  If you are trying to start a fan war, bravo because you will achieve it.  But Halo has been a much bigger franchise all generation.

Are you really comparing the combined sales of 6 games versus the combined sales of 3???? Damn , that is dumb. Plus you are including a PSP game there.

In average a GT game sold 7.27 M (PS 3).

In average a Halo game sold 6.67 (360).

The fan war thing was uncalled for.

Actually due to the holiday digital bundle that Reach received in 2011 it's probably about tied for sales with GT5. If I remember my calculations right it roughly sold 1.1 million in digital copies during the time that it was bundled and that doesn't include the other 2 or so years it's been on demand (which is increasingly becoming a bigger market on the 360). So best bet is to add a couple hundred thousand onto that. Overall I would estimate Reach at around 10.6 million (taking the very low end of sales)

Either way though one game didn't meet my sales expectation (Reach) whilst the other one (GT5) genuinely surprised me. Congrats to GT5 for being the first PS3 exclusive to cross 10 million.

Yeah the problem with these estimated digital sales is that either some of the older Halo games are overtracked or even MS dont count the digital sales. We had the halo series slightly above 46m on this site back in October of 2012 when MS announced 46m copies sold for the franchise. 10m copies since then seems perfectly reasonable.

A thing of beauty, strength, and grace lies behind that whiskered face.

Its not a demo, its a fullscale game that I still to this day feel shouldn't have been $60. Felt like my wallet was raped by Microsoft that day. I beat that game with my friend in five hours and I we sat on the couch saying....really? This a $30 game at best. It easily could've been an expansion downloadable on Xbox Live.

So what was the 40€ price for GT5:P, the demo for GT5? A mass-rape or what? My, sometimes your choice of words is just disgusting.

What is the franchise sales numbers for both when compared next to eachother? I think they said GT was at...70 million was it not? What's Halo's number?

Of course less because of psx-versions, psp-version and the massive amount of ps2-units sold.
