Forums - Nintendo - Pachter on Nintendo's E3 Plans: "Not sure how this is different."

Ahh sorry. I should probably go to the mirror and have a proper look at myself.

On topic, I just hope Nintendo do actually have a proper heap of Wii U games coming for E3. I'm slightly worried they're not doing a big event because they only have one or two games that can't be padded out over an hour.

Hahaha. No worries.

We know for sure they'll show off 3D Mario, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros. Honestly, if they had wanted to they could easily have built a traditional E3 conference around these games alone alongside their ridiculous 3DS lineup. We'll probably see Pikmin, Wonderful 101, and Game & Wario again, though I think everyone is burnt out on those and ready to see newer titles by now. It's a safe bet that New Super Luigi U and Wii Party U, both releasing this summer, will be shown, as well as Wind Waker HD, slated for release this fall.

So far we know about a handful of other first-party Wii U games that are currently in development -- Yarn Yoshi, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Wii Fit U, Xenogame, Bayonetta 2, Pokémon Rumble U. For my money, Wii Fit U and Pokémon Rumble will be there for sure, Yarn Yoshi and Xenogame will most likely be at least mentioned since we have already seen footage of each, and either SMT X FE or Bayonetta 2 will be officially unveiled with a first look at gameplay. I'm leaning towards Bayonetta 2 there. It's possible both will be shown, of course.

The last big question is Retro Studios, and I believe their game will be there. I don't really have any expectations for it except that it will be great. I suspect that it's Star Fox, but they can make almost anything at all and I'll be interested.

That's all of my expectations for the Wii U next month. I hope to see a couple of things I didn't quite anticipate, but I don't need them to knock my socks off.

To recap, a conservative idea of what will almost definitely be shown for Wii U from Nintendo during E3:

New Super Luigi U
3D Super Mario
Mario Kart
Super Smash Bros.
Wii Party U
Wind Waker HD
Wii Fit U
Pokémon Rumble U
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
Game & Wario

Games that are likely to be shown:

Yarn Yoshi
Xenogame
Bayonetta 2
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
new game from Retro Studios

And Third-Party games that may be shown at E3 that are coming to Wii U:

(Ubisoft) Rayman Legends
(Ubisoft) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
(Ubisoft) Watch_Dogs
(Ubisoft) Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
(Warner Bros) Batman: Arkham Origins
(Warner Bros) Lego Marvel Super Heroes
(Capcom) Ducktales Remastered
(Square-Enix) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
(Activision) Skylanders: Swap Force
(Disney) Disney Infinity

These are the ones that strike me as the "big" ones, but of course E3 is the right time for other games to be confirmed for Wii U, and there may be some "smaller" ones making appearances that don't immediately seem to be worth mentioning.

I agree with everything u said except about Retro. I think they have two games Iin development.

1. Metroid Prime 4-2014 release

2. Open-world western RPG-late 2015/ealry 2016 release

I do believe Star Fox is coming sometime In the next 2 years tho

I'm not sure Retro has the resources to make two huge games like those at once. If they're making two games at once, I would bet on the second being a 2D Metroid game for 3DS, not something as enormous as their 'main' project.

Star Fox is almost definitely in development, whether Retro is working on it or not. But I am leaning towards that being what they're doing. I think Metroid is on ice for the moment, unfortunately.

I thought Retro had 2 teams now or did I just make that up? The rumor says there working on a futuristic shooter so Metroid and Star Fox both fit that description. Metroid Prime Iis my favorite game of all time so I really hope there working on a new one, although Star Fox is in serious need of coming back, the team that made Kid Icarus Uprising would be a good choice for it if Retros not

The team that made Kid Icarus was dissolved. In all likelihood the scraps of that team were brought back together to form the new Smash Bros team... so, those guys are occupied.

I tend not to pay much attention to unsubstantiated rumors this close to E3. A month ago that rumor would have interested me, but now I can just patiently wait for the official reveal.

Less than 3 weeks!

The team was put together specifically for the purpose of making that game. It was probably mostly made up of people who worked on Brawl. Now they're getting together with some guys from Namco to make the next Smash Bros.

It's essentially the same core group, or at least the director is the same.

When there done with Smash id like them to make another Kid Icarus or Star Fox if nobody is working on it currently

Fair enough! Sakurai doesn't sound interested in making another Kid Icarus, so I'd be happy to see what he would bring to Star Fox.

I think Platinum and Kid Icarus would make a great fit...
