On topic, I just hope Nintendo do actually have a proper heap of Wii U games coming for E3. I'm slightly worried they're not doing a big event because they only have one or two games that can't be padded out over an hour. |
Hahaha. No worries.
We know for sure they'll show off 3D Mario, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros. Honestly, if they had wanted to they could easily have built a traditional E3 conference around these games alone alongside their ridiculous 3DS lineup. We'll probably see Pikmin, Wonderful 101, and Game & Wario again, though I think everyone is burnt out on those and ready to see newer titles by now. It's a safe bet that New Super Luigi U and Wii Party U, both releasing this summer, will be shown, as well as Wind Waker HD, slated for release this fall.
So far we know about a handful of other first-party Wii U games that are currently in development -- Yarn Yoshi, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Wii Fit U, Xenogame, Bayonetta 2, Pokémon Rumble U. For my money, Wii Fit U and Pokémon Rumble will be there for sure, Yarn Yoshi and Xenogame will most likely be at least mentioned since we have already seen footage of each, and either SMT X FE or Bayonetta 2 will be officially unveiled with a first look at gameplay. I'm leaning towards Bayonetta 2 there. It's possible both will be shown, of course.
The last big question is Retro Studios, and I believe their game will be there. I don't really have any expectations for it except that it will be great. I suspect that it's Star Fox, but they can make almost anything at all and I'll be interested.
That's all of my expectations for the Wii U next month. I hope to see a couple of things I didn't quite anticipate, but I don't need them to knock my socks off.
To recap, a conservative idea of what will almost definitely be shown for Wii U from Nintendo during E3:
New Super Luigi U
3D Super Mario
Mario Kart
Super Smash Bros.
Wii Party U
Wind Waker HD
Wii Fit U
Pokémon Rumble U
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
Game & Wario
Games that are likely to be shown:
Yarn Yoshi
Xenogame
Bayonetta 2
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
new game from Retro Studios
And Third-Party games that may be shown at E3 that are coming to Wii U:
(Ubisoft) Rayman Legends
(Ubisoft) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
(Ubisoft) Watch_Dogs
(Ubisoft) Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
(Warner Bros) Batman: Arkham Origins
(Warner Bros) Lego Marvel Super Heroes
(Capcom) Ducktales Remastered
(Square-Enix) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
(Activision) Skylanders: Swap Force
(Disney) Disney Infinity
These are the ones that strike me as the "big" ones, but of course E3 is the right time for other games to be confirmed for Wii U, and there may be some "smaller" ones making appearances that don't immediately seem to be worth mentioning.
