Forums - Nintendo - Pachter on Nintendo's E3 Plans: "Not sure how this is different."

pachter just doesn't understand nintendo innovation. ..but i'm sure as hell he'll praise MSony when they start copying nintendo's idea to tell people about their products.

How so?

NDs for gamers.

Software showcase and Hands On for the Media.

Business Presentation for Analysts and stockholders and whoever else...

Because they are having the same shows, but with a slightly different name. They will still show of games and whatnot and likely it will be blogged / streamed. The only real difference is they've added more NDs. That is what they should have said.

"This year we'll be adding significant more exposure to our fans with multiple Nintendo Directs before and during E3."

That's it. Simple, positive, and so forth. Instead they complicated it with language that made everyone think they'd be doing nothing and so forth. No need to dicsuss the main show at all, just not advertise it.

They're not the same shows at all, though. Especially not the Business Presentation one.

Why was this guy invited?

I thing the best question is "why do you think this guy should not be invited?"... he have to be because it is part of the gaming industry.

I'm curious too... if Nintendo make a conference like the other years then it will be fine.

I think people are all too ready to misunderstand Pachter here due to his past stupidity. He's just surprised that so far everything is the same as it's always been despite all this talk of radical change. For him, it will all but be the same.

I've been thinking this for awhile.  There was really no need for them to announce much of anything, especially this far in advance.  All it did was make people concerned or dismissive.  All they had to do was go ahead with their plans and there would barely have been a peep about it.

^ The only thing I can think is they wanted to preempt a leak from someone at E3, which is strange considering a "NINTENDO ISN'T GOING TO HAVE A GIANT E3 CONFERENCE" would be a pretty easy rumor to dismiss.

Are they having a large presentation in the same Kodak theater, with the same media, on same date/time?

yes.

They made it confusing when they didn't have to. All they needed to do was focus advertising on NDs and not the presentation. It would have been far less confusing and not given many people the idea that they are missing E3 entirely.

It doesn't matter that the "big show" is more of a quick promo with lots of on-hands time for the press vs a hour long promo event.

We all knew Nintendo was going to be present at E3 and that they were going to do exact same things they have always been doing, the only difference is that there isn't a big flashy show at the Nokia theater.

The whole "NINTENDO ISN'T GOING TO E3" was only used by haters who didn't got their facts right.
