Forums - Nintendo - Interesting Nintendo E3 rumours (Updated with additional rumors)

he same way as every other console it's released.  And Wii U has received the most AAA third party support of a Nintendo console since Gamecube, and probably since SNES.  The games support is far and away better than Wii, which had a port of GC Zelda and Wii Sports to start things off and 0 AAA 3rd party titles.  If you view this system as worse than older Nintendo systems, it's because your views have changed or because you memory is poor or clouded by nostalgia.

Exactly; the Wii started with one of the most groundbreaking games of all time and one of the best games of the last decade. Wii U has nothing even close to either of them so far.

Also, by this point for the Wii, we'd seen Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Brawl.

I just wanna see them come out with guns a blazin'. And I don't mean CoD, I mean, all first party games shown and shown with that Nintendo pride and polish. Something that says, yes, sure there are some rumors about console sales yada yada, but did you see these games we have in store? People will care less about stats and more about games if you show them games they want to see.

Wii had Wii Sports, and really that's all it needed.

Even if you removed Zelda from the Wii launch, it still would've smoked the Wii U because people wanted Wii Sports.

I remember some people didn't even know Wii was a Nintendo machine, I had a conversation with a friend that went like this:

Him: There's this new thing it's like totally virtual reality, you can play like tennis and boxing with your arms. It's so easy anyone can play.

Me: Yeah, that's the Wii. It's the new Nintendo system.

Him: No, this is like no Nintendo. It's totally new.

lol.

Seen but not played.  My point is that the amount of content for Wii U is pretty similar to other launches... a bit better on third party a bit worse on first.  You're right though, Wii Sports was all anyone needed for a while on Wii because it was such a must-have title, and we should have had a glimpse of 3D Mario by now.  I know Mario Galaxy is a big reason I was hyped to buy the Wii in fall 2007.  I had washed my hands of Nintendo for a while but that title was one of the reasons I came back.

Please stop with the damage control. There is no spinning the situation. Seeing as another poster addressed the issue of first party support. I will limit myself to the issue of third party support. Which is virtually nonexistent now, and just wasn't really present at launch. The console got a slew of delayed ports, and the effort from developers, and the end results hardly qualify as being AAA in nature.

Well maybe Assassins Creed III, but that only counts if your only qualifier for the designation is development budget. It wasn't a commercial success, or a critical success either. Actually not a single third party game scored a nine out of ten or higher, and that is saying a lot, because some of them did accomplish such a feet with their original launch on one of the other consoles or both. That means they were made worse by being on the Wii U. Talk about ouch, but it gets even better or worse depending on your point of view.

Not one single game on the platform got a meta review score of nine out of ten or better. The console quite literally doesn't have a single AAA title to its credit third party or otherwise. Even the Wii managed to have one at the time of its launch. Worse yet this is supposed to be a next generation console. What is the justification for this console not having a single game that qualifies as next gen. Not a one, and it isn't like Nintendo didn't have a lot of time on its hands given how long ago it abandoned Wii title development.

There isn't any two ways about it. Nintendo is just abusing you, and your trust in them. I am not being condescending in the least. There isn't any sport to be had here, and there isn't anything amusing about the situation. It has gone way beyond that now. Even at its very blackest Vita owners never managed to get this apathetic about their platform, and I mean a lot of retailers don't even sell the device anymore.

You guys are just plain sliding. Yes you have every justifiable reason to be apathetic, but if you let yourselves go down that path. The Nintendo community on these forums is going to just evaporate. Last week you went through what has to have been your anger phase, and I think as a group you have zipped right past bargaining. At this rate in a month a lot of you are going to be talking about the Wii U in the past tense. You can acquit yourselves so much better then you are.

Everything in this post says you are no longer worth responding to.

In other words what you meant to say that I won.

No, I mean to say that you are in your own little long-winded Nintendo-hating world, and your rediculous statements and dramatically incorrect information (AC3 a commercial failure?!?) show that you are intellecutally not worth my efforts.  However, if saying you "won" against the interenet makes you feel good about yourself and be able to sleep at night, go ahead champ!  I'm just not going to feed you anymore.

So true.  That's what you call a ground-breaking system and title.

I'm getting more and more hyped for the Super Mario Bros U reveal...

Seeing is enough to generate hype though; I'd almost certainly be much more excited if I'd seen trailers for 3D Mario, and I think this is a common sentiment. To at least be able to see goodness coming our way is better than some indistinct possibility of a game with no concrete info.

Apparantly now I am worth responding to. Talk about demolishing your own credibility.

I predict Nintendo will have it's best E3 this year since a long, long time!!!
