I heard Island Tour was pretty good...
I dunno, lately Nintendo's gotten a least better. MP9 was better then MP 3-8. MP DS was better then MP for GBA.

Mario Party 2 is still the best. 1 would be good had it not destroyed controllers/palms with those damn analog spin games.

I actually liked Mario Party 3. It wasn't obviously not as good as the first two games, but the minigames were still pretty fun and I enjoyed the duel mode, too. Mario Party started going gownhill with the GameCube games in my opinion!

Maybe, I remember enjoying it when it first came out, but I boot it up recently and.....it's not as good a Mario Party 9. Within 2 turns we hit 3 mystery blocks and someone already got a star.....MP3 was the start of the fall IMO.
If you're a fan of MP, you really should google the MP9 minigames and check the game out yourself. It's honestly not bad, different from MP 1 & 2, but still good.
You can see how Mario Party's changed over the years. In MP2-
-the shortest game time was 1 hour
-played on a game board involved currency to buy stars
-allowed you to steal stars
-had minigames like Platform Peril (among other mini games) were often super hard minigames which required a lot of skill to win.
-only awards 1st place in minigames (except the bonus games)
In MP9:
-all games are 20-30 minutes long
-play on a linear board with a set finish and no currency (just mini-stars)
-does not allow you to directly manipulate the game
-has minigames like Platform Peril (among others) which give you multiple lives, are pretty easy.
-awards 1st-4th place in minigames, even if everyone fails.
