Honestly objectively speaking, I hope Capcom is okay with sales being lowered for their risk in trying to approach resident evil differently. Sometimes risk payoff and sometimes it doesn't and them trying new things is not necessarily a bad thing. I avoided Resident Evil 6 because I had no faith in the franchise, and I most likely will not play Resident Evil 7 at this time, until I hear a lot of positive things from the right people. 

 Obviously the NEW IP talk is rediculous, lets just get that out of the way. Even Ghostbusters does not get use to that excuse and it was a horrible film that did horribly.

It's an otome franchise that's probably the most popular in the genre aside from Hakuouki. Was very big on the PSP. About idols and composuers and stuff.

The game being predicted there is a remake of the very first game I believe, so it shouldn't be a bar for the franchise but should do okay. There's only been one game in the franchise on Vita, which was a rhythm game that sold pretty well (iirc about 50k FW).

So was FFVII and Sun and Moon are gen 7 games. 7 are the new ips of franchises confirmed.

Even Super Mario Odessy is the 7th 3d mario (if you exclude remake)

Actually, by Kero-Tans conditions Pokemon Sun and Moon maybe COULD be considered a new IP. While they did keep some of the mechanics of their predecessors, they did pretty radically break away from a lot of the series conventions.
