Isn't comparing Smash to the previous one makes more sense ?

Apparently some people reeeeally want Smash Bros. to beat Mario Kart, they simply don't want to accept Mario Kart beating Smash Bros.

But others like me, just find it interesting to compare them since they are 2 of Nintendo's biggest sellers, though I'd say Mario Kart is bigger than Smash bros.
