We don't NEED smartphones, we WANT smartphones. We could just get a cheap old nokia from 2000 and that would do the job, remember this is a phone not a computer.

This phone may not look like much but for £35/ $50 it does everything a mobile phone was made to do. Most of what smartphones do today are just extras

Yeah but people don't need £600/ $700 mobile phones. You can get a decent mobile phone for less than half that. If people are willing to pay so much for a phone then they have no right to complain about the price of video games. Especially, if they are American, nearly everything is cheaper over there except healthcare

2. I don't think the old Nokia could serve as a Navi, E-Mail reader, MP3-Player, Movie player, access the Internet...I actually need some of these functions DAILY, so I'm gladly buying a smartphone instead of a mobile phone^^

i understand but what i'm trying to say is that the whole point of a mobile phone was to call people easily it was never meant to do anything else. It is good though as it's quite convienient and is making many products like ipods, portable DVD players, sat nav and possibly even PC's in the future irrelevant. it's just a shame that battery life is so bad these days, it's something that i want to be improved before getting more cores.

But i admit i could never back to an ordinary mobile phone. I just think people don't need the rip off phones that have have more power than sense like the galaxy s4

Yeah, I agree. I bought a used Galaxy SII and it should be sufficent until it dies on me :)

based on the market. 400 is expensive for a console, might sell well initially but will need to drop the price in orther to sell better.

Everything will sell better when it get a price cut ,i think Sony never sold a console priced near to 400 dollars so you can't know how the market will response to this price.

bolded1: the most ridiculous thing i've read in a while. if it was true then congratulations for nintendo for developing in 2000 a cpu stronger than the ones in ps360.

bolded2: the gpu is heavily custumized and nobody really knows wich series it's based on.

bolded 3: 2gb ddr3 RAM + 32mb eDRAM

the controler has the components of a regular controler + camera, speakers, microphone, nfc, motion sensors, touch screen and maybe a more expensive than ususal battery. while the list is long, none of those is really expensive. just imagine a 3ds without a gpu and cpu wich are arguably the most expensive parts. we'd get a machine that could retail at 80-90 dollars at a profit, wich means development cost  is in the 60-70 area. as i stated before, if much, wii u gamepad costs $40 more to produce than a regular controler.

now just remember, what you call cheap 2gb memory is still way more expensive than the 512mb on ps360. what you call low end gpu is still way more expensive than the ones on ps360, same with the cpu. i don't know abot xbox360 price right now but i'm sure it could retail for 150 at a profit, so what's wrong in a new machine with more expensive parts everywhere being 299 at a small loss. wii u price is right.

it needs a lower price than that to sell WELL, it will be hard to maintain decent sales at $400 price tag. and i certainly know how the market responded to the 499/599 us dollars and that was in a better economy.

Time will tell us.

I still believe that ps4 will sell well.
