Forums - Gaming - EA last quarter had higher revenue from the PSP/Vita than Wii/DS/3DS

Wow, I stumbled across some of your hate filled comments in this forum, but this thread easily takes the cake ....coming from a "run of the mill-Nintendofan" haha

If EA made more games for 3DS and WiiU that were worth getting, I would buy them. I bought NFSMW on WiiU and thought it was well done. I tried the FIFA demo and decided not to since it was not a very good game.

EA makes decent sports games, I like sports games. They don't make sports games for my platforms so I ignore them (I only tend to get Hockey and Soccer and 2K and PES do those well).

Tiger Woods Golf had Wii as the lead platform and did quite well for a few years, actually.

Problem is, Wii owners aren't gullible enough to buy the same game year after year, so sales eventually dropped off until EA dropped support. Wii users, who just want a fun game to play, are basically incompatible with EA Sports' "roster update" business model.

Right.

*looks at Just Dance sales*

The mind boggles...

Doesn't actually disprove my point at all. Tiger Woods on Wii peaked on the third annual release, then started to decline. Just Dance sales collapsed after the third game. Guitar Hero on Wii started to decline after the third title. Catching a pattern yet?

The only difference is that Just Dance had a broader appeal than golf and a much lower price tag than Guitar Hero.

I can only speculate... but do you think maybe Tiger cheating on his wife, gaining infamy for whoring around, and being a creep may have impacted sales of the 2010 release and future releases on the Wii? Tiger Woods had a lot of crap marketed to kids, maybe parents didn't want to buy his game anymore.

Guitar Hero declined on all platforms after the release of 3. However, Guitar Hero World Tour and 5 continued to perform better on the Wii than PS3 and 360. So had you done a little research, I don't think you would have used that example.

Call of Duty most notably saw a decline on the Wii. But lets be honest, that's probably because fans moved to HD platforms.

well to be fair you cant ignore something you dont really have access to anyway.

Pretty poor numbers for the Vita really, 3DS had 1 EA game last year yet that one game generated nearly half the revenue that 4 vita games generated.

and people wonder why they dont support nintendo products

Or... it's because of the shitty support they give Nintendo products. $60 for Mass Effect 3 a year after it came out? Trick, please.

didnt stop ME2 from selling 1.2 million on the ps3 did it now?

I'm not buying it. (Those numbers, I mean. I bought the game!)

Didn't the PS3 have an install base of 47 million at that point?  Yes.

What was the Wii U install base when ME3 was released for it?  0.

Did EA announce a Mass Effect 1 and 2 special edition for the same price on the X360 but not the PS3 when it launched?   No.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

@dodece. Nintendo fans stop buying EA games because they've reduced in quality, oh ma gurrds.

and you pretty much stated the problem. it wouldnt have mattered if EA announced the ME1/2 special edition for other consoles if people just owned a WiiU. but these people also have a ps3,360 or a pc. so why would EA even bother on nintendo consoles if they can reach the same consumers on the platformers they are already working on?
