What a closed minded biased look at the pros for each.

How so? Just because you don't like someone elses opinion? And that anyone elses that disagree's with your own is automagically biased?

I mean, do elaborate instead of posting a completely pointless 1 liner.

No. You mention that the iPhone is for simpletons or people who know nothing about technology. That's a very closed-minded way to see it. And factually wrong. I know plenty of people, programmers, who have iPhones. I wouldn't call those programmers simpletons or lacking tech knowledge by any stretch.

It's generalisation.
The iPhone is something I would buy for my grandmother (Which I did and she loves it), I would buy Android for myself due to it's more open nature.

Fortunatly, I don't own a cordless telecommunications device because none fit my needs, I opted for a 10" Windows 8 x86 tablet instead which works wonderfully for what I want.

Also, as someone who sometimes does a bit of programming? It's trash on a touch screen, whichever way you go about it.

I'm not saying he does programming on a touch screen. Ha ha ha!
Although they do program games for mobile phones, iOS included. The point I was making is that they are tech savvy yet chose to have an iPhone over the other OSs.  Not everyone cares about the openness of a device such as a cell phone. I chose Android because of its customization abilities. But over time, I have reverted back to a very simple layout because overly cutomizing it tends to affect the performance of the phone. And what I want most in a phone, is smoothness and speed of use.  Most of the apps I download, I tend to stop using after a short while, after having tested them. I keep some of the really useful ones, like WhatsApp and the likes, but most of them I end up deleting...

So, in my case, customisation for a cell phone OS won't be a key feature I will look for when I get a new phone later this year. If I go for an iPhone 5 (which I am considering, along with the Xperia Z or Lumia 920) that doesn't make me technology ignorant, or a simpleton.

Well. If this is the only point you are able to make that makes me "biased" then I can't be that biased.

For starters, those who are tech savvy are a minority, who you know and who I know doesn't change the statistics on the matter.

The majority who are tech savvy will use Android, root it and install custom firmware to get the best experience and enjoy the superior hardware.

Apple markets itself on being simple for the average person, that's it's targeted Audience and it has made 10's of billions on it.

That is not true... tech guys uses more Apple... the majority of common users uses Android... well that is like I see where I live.

I'm not really sure how the Nexus OS is, but I much prefer my HTC DNA's OS over my IPad MIni's. I also think that the iPhone is a bit too small, but then again, that's coming from a guy who thinks that the DNA is perfectly sized.

Nexus OS (or in other words, stock Android) is similar to HTC DNA. The difference is that Nexus is significantly faster and less bloated (talking about sense). I prefer Android over IOS too, I didn't use Iphone much because of the size but on Ipad the OS is ridicolous. My 3 year old phone gets more playtime than my a few months old Ipad 4. It is too bad that the Ipad was the first to market, most of the developers went there. The situation is getting better lately though.

Depends entirely on what OS she would prefer.

Also the iPhone 5 has a better camera than the Nexus 4...so if that's something shes into then that becomes a major factor.

Some people (like me) have a problem with the way iOS deals with multimedia....its a pain to load music and movies etc. While on android its simpler (usual drag and drop style). However ios users would be use to this. So might not be a problem.

Also apps tend to require a payment on ios versus free on android. There are drawbacks to this though, but generally you would prefer free stuff.

Build quality would lean towards the iphone as well.

Also 4G is awesome! So yeah the iPhone 5 might be the perfect phone to get for some people. Personally, no matter how good the device is ios is not for me.
