No. You mention that the iPhone is for simpletons or people who know nothing about technology. That's a very closed-minded way to see it. And factually wrong. I know plenty of people, programmers, who have iPhones. I wouldn't call those programmers simpletons or lacking tech knowledge by any stretch.

It's generalisation.
The iPhone is something I would buy for my grandmother (Which I did and she loves it), I would buy Android for myself due to it's more open nature.

Fortunatly, I don't own a cordless telecommunications device because none fit my needs, I opted for a 10" Windows 8 x86 tablet instead which works wonderfully for what I want.

Also, as someone who sometimes does a bit of programming? It's trash on a touch screen, whichever way you go about it.

I'm not saying he does programming on a touch screen. Ha ha ha!
Although they do program games for mobile phones, iOS included. The point I was making is that they are tech savvy yet chose to have an iPhone over the other OSs.  Not everyone cares about the openness of a device such as a cell phone. I chose Android because of its customization abilities. But over time, I have reverted back to a very simple layout because overly cutomizing it tends to affect the performance of the phone. And what I want most in a phone, is smoothness and speed of use.  Most of the apps I download, I tend to stop using after a short while, after having tested them. I keep some of the really useful ones, like WhatsApp and the likes, but most of them I end up deleting...

So, in my case, customisation for a cell phone OS won't be a key feature I will look for when I get a new phone later this year. If I go for an iPhone 5 (which I am considering, along with the Xperia Z or Lumia 920) that doesn't make me technology ignorant, or a simpleton.
