Found it on Gamespot. I thought it would be nice to share it with you.

I find it pretty motivational. And I love Danny's journalism job on this one.

And I definitively agree. I can't count how many times I've been depressed and then resorted to videogames to help me fighting through it.

It goes both ways. Video games can help you to espace from a harsh reality into something comfortable, but they also can make you stay in your destructive bubble for too long.

When I play games like Okami and Persona 4, I feel better.

Let me change the poll, then.

"They can both help and make things worse."

I can totally agree with this. Video games can be very time consuming, and In my opinion.discipline/self-control is very important when playing games now.

I've certainly found that video games are great stress relief. Too much stress can lead to depression. So while I've never had clinical depression I think playing video games has possibly contributed to preventing stress from turning into something worse.

But I also know there have been times when I've played too much and other responsibilities and obligations have been sidelined, which is not good.

So double edged sword I think.

When I'm depressed I play Harvest Moon.

Once in third year of uni I had a major panic crash and called my dad to take me home. When I got home I played Harvest Moon for 2 days. After that I felt better enough to drive back to Guelph and finish the semester. This doesn't happen too often though.

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

when you say "depressed"....

do you really mean feeling a bit down?

If you have been depressed multiple times at the age of 19 then I'd suggest some proper help and not just video games.

Check the video (Other user has stated so).

Depression has multiple manifestations, and extents. I don't know where you live, but here at the age of 19 is old enough to see misery in its pure form. But to answer your question, yes; I meant feeling a bit down.
