the boss gets a huge pay increase and the rest of his employees get either pay cuts or face the sack. The boss pats himself on the back for a job well done and laughs all the way to the bank.

COD is a big game but not because of Bobby Kotick. He doesn't deserve that money. This is an American problem with how much the few make. They get rewarded because of their position not because of the actual work. Infinity Ward had bonuses coming their way from Activision and they wouldnt even give it to them for providing them with a winner of a game. They give Infinity ward hell and pay kotick more than the bonus? WTF? One man?

Yeah, lets pretend as if there were no extenuating circumstances surrounding Infinity Ward LOL.

I know if my employer caught me sneaking around, sabotaging their product, and trying to strike deals with competitors, they'd not want to pay me either.

People in America tend to make significantly more than most people around the world. Most people who struggle financially in the US tend to put themsevles in a bad situation. This is why I don't concern myself with the few who have significantly more than others.

I don't know much about the Infinity Ward situation, but J_Allard seem to know something. So discuss that with him.

Profit in and of itself is not an indication of efficiency at all.

Business success, yes.  But market efficiency?  Far more data would be required to determine such a thing than simply profit.

its not really surprising at all. Activision has made many great financial strides the past few years...
-Merged with Blizzard and by default gained revenue from WOW
-Call of Duty on an annual release schedule, bringing in more money than any other game each year.
-Skylanders makings something around 20billion last year in merchandising and games.

Can't deny that they are pulling in massive amounts of money on a astronomical scale. He kinda deserves a raise, not sure about that much tho. I do hope they equally compensated the staff who is really making all this success happen.

Well since 1993 the activision stock has gone up 1480%..

But you perfectly know Activision didn't punish just West and Zampella (that countersued and later reached a settlement), but it also withheld payment of tens million $ due bonuses to many other Infinity Ward employees that were totally innocent.

While witholding any payment to West and Zampella until a settlement was reached was totally correct, forcing other honest employee to sue to obtain what was due was greedy, fishy and unfair, and that 800% raise to Skrotick make it look even more so in comparison.

And while I'm a fan of physical support for games, I think there is at least one big advantage in digital download, that it will allow more and more devs to become independent and not be forced anymore to accept all this crap.
