How many viewers does Nintendo Direct get on average? I highly doubt it's comparable to an E3 press conference. I think that Nintendo knows all they have to show off are first party titles, maybe they figure it's better to use Nintendo Direct for that. Still a terrible decision though.

This thread is about Nintendo. Why are you even mentioning Sony or MS, let alone attempting to diminish the impact of their conferences?

from year to year people say e3 is losing importance with all the other ways to show your stuff nowadys but if a company thinks the same people say they are doomed?

let's be honest, 95% of people will see some trailers on youtube or read about it when the media will write about it and if the media will see it on a stage with fancy music and lights or in a private media room won't change it, they will write about the games nintendo will show them.

people on youtube watch the trailers and gameplay videos of the games and not someone on the stage talking about it.

Um....this is a 180 from what Nintendo did with the Wii. Nintendo actually had a product people who dont game were interested in. It was hand to hand combat with news stations, shows, tv, viral commercials. People didnt know what to make of the Wii U's and the casuals werent going to trade in their Ipads for it. This isn't ignorance, this is an understanding that Nintendo is in for a world of hurt at E3 when it comes to marketing their product to the masses. Sony and Microsoft will get huge buzz because they were on the grand stage and Nintendo will be just....well...there. The conference goes on Youtube as well you because it gets recorded and sent up it will be in more places and will reach more people. If you want to see Nintendos "viral marketing" you have to go to Nintendo. Tell me who just got more exposure?.......Yeah...I am not the one who is ignorant. You just have a blind belief in Nintendo without looking at the facts of their Youtube track record. 

 That means half of Sonys unveiling was basically nothing to you. Do you really think they were going to show you everything they had? Please they insisted Microsoft go first so Microsoft doesnt rip them off. Thats evident that they are holding some guns back at E3, so I would be ready if i were you, this is going to be a titan Microsoft vs Sony show. 

I can't say I'm really disappointed by this. Nintendo's conferences in the past decade have been really bad, very badly paced, and an embarrassing snore fest more often than not.

If their new approach puts a deeper focus on their games and products, without the kindergarten approach they use to present them during their usual E3 conferences, then I'm all for it.

If I ever get a company, remind me not to hire you for a marketing plan. I want to reach as many people as possible, and most people who have shows on the net are saying its very risky to exposure, what Nintendo is doing. Very, very risky, its like they are going into hiding to just their Nintendo fans and no one outside.

Yeah, they have. Nintendos only conference that actually impressed me was the one where they actually showed games all day for the Wii and actually won E3 in I believe 2010. Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus, and all the goodies. They have always been hit or miss at E3. Every E3 with the Wii was abot profits because they were so surprised at how much money they were raking in and that god awful woman that hey replaced was so boring. She knew nothing about games at all. So....soo boring.

Exactly. E3 gets more press than a lone Nintendo direct ever will and even on Youtube it will get more hits because its spread amongst websites and posters, therefore more exposure. Nintendo is going to get a mudhole stomped in them in marketing this year and it starts at E3. Lets hope they offer up something really....really big. Iwata has also acknowledged that the Wii U is selling slowly because of a lack of compelling games just like the DS did in the beginning.
