I think what it really comes down to is a few people poisoning the well. Everyone has their preferences but you always have a few who are combative about it, which only breeds suspicion and defensiveness in others. I've seen one or two people enter a thread and turn it into a divisive flame-war almost instantly, when it was proceeding in a civil manner before. It just turns into a war of escalation and you have people writing things which cannot be unwritten.

A website I used to go to previously had this really, really awful fanboy. Everyone knew he was full of carp. Most of the people on his "side" generally ignored him. However, he could usually get a rise out of someone in the other camp, who would hurl back insults toward his console of choice, which would force others to rally to his cause. It was a quagmire that got worse and worse.

That's the curse of fanboyism, the way it draws people on the edges into the battle, like a riptide or a black hole.

That is the kind of thing that pisses hardcore fans off and makes them not want to talk with you.

Instead of saying " i dont like nintendo or MS." all you have to say is "I don't have any Nintendo or MS experience". People will respect your opinion if you respect theirs. Saying you don't like something that you haven't played isn't even accurate.

Ya those sigs don't realy seem to do much good really. I don't get why everyone would want to use them anyways. I mean they look good and all, but after seeing so many people with them it kind of wears off. It's easier to auto group people too. It's their personal choice to use them though so ya...

i made it clear in my previous thread how i feel about RPJ's so i never wanted to try fable. Dead rising? its also on the ps3, wasnt really interested TBH. left for dead i can get on my PC and forza? please keep racing simulators away from me. i played GT and to me it was a bore fest!

i honestly dont see anything wrong with it, i honestly dont like them atm. i simply dont care for them much. but i see your point so ill change it. and i do have nintendo experience btw, i did own 3 consoles and loved them all very much. xbox i never tried, but if i never tried something how can i like it? get my point?

Its due to VGChartz at its core being a sales site.

Being a sales site means you attract a certain kind of user. You automatically bring a competitive environment and a competitive environment brings an abundance of fanboys and trolls.

Fanboys and trolls generate hostility, which amplifies when you have a site centered around sales. It makes people overly paranoid and over defensive.

Granted the majority are generally a nice bunch of people, the problem is the nice guys can be easily drowned out by one loud, annoying fanboy/troll. The fanboys and trolls paint a negative image on the company of preference. There are certain members in each fanbase that do this, and they consistantly try to put down the competition.

You're wrong with Fable. It's an action/adventure game mixed with RPG elements. Knowing you, you'd enjoy that game pretty much. It does look childish, but it is sometimes pretty mature, and light-hearted. Funny too. Perhaps the main complain is way too easy.

The first Dead Rising is exclusive to the Xbox (plus the Dead Rising 2 DLC). However you can also watch the same story if you play the Wii spin-off: Chop Till You Drop.
