I mean, I loved DmC...but yeah everyone hates you and your recent efforts and I don't want to stand out.

Right....wait for MH4 numbers before anything.

I like DmC too.. but when the reboot sells less then the HD collection... that's just sad..

Anyway.. Lost Planet 3 will also bomb..

To be fair, Capcom numbers aren't so bad.

I don't doubt it will bomb...Lost Planet 2 was sucked dry of any cool elements that the first one had so if they are building on that, I wish them good luck.

I do think these low sales are just indicative of gaming in general. Like the numbers that GoW and GOW have put up are pathetic... I am part of the problem too. I didn't buy Gears...I would personally rather play Gravity Guy 2 on my windows phone than Gears of War.

I don't think Deep Down has anything to do with Monster Hunter.

Hopefully not.

From the initial promotional stuff when they were pushing it as an "action game", I thought Dragon's Dogma might be a western-focused Monster Hunter type game. But Deep Down looks much more like their attempt to answer Skyrim.

That seems rather unnecessary.

Though despite Capcom's apparent schizophrenia (with one hand they summon more and ambitious New IP, with the other they rehash everything they possible can, with one hand they are fair to Nintendo fans, while the other punches us in the collective sack), they are still among the best of the third parties out there today, on the whole reasonably responsive to fans, diverse in their publishing portfolio, and (again, such a rare quality in a third party that it must be made note of) halfway fair to the Nintendo base.

There are worse things to copy than a game that cracked eight digits, and the Japanese take on dark fantasy has been really impressive in Demon's Souls/Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma, and Soul Sacrifice. So I can't say I'm opposed.

There are still things to like about Capcom, and I can definitely see why a Nintendo fan would consider them an exceptional third party, but to me they seem to be over the hill as a company. The gaps left by the departures of Kamiya, Mikami, and Inafune haven't been filled by anyone. (Inafune in particular felt like a death knell for the company.) Ono is a phenomenally loveable motherfucker, but he's really the only personality they have left. Aside from DuckTales and D&D there's nothing they're releasing this year that I'm really excited about, and their earnings report basically says they intend to focus on games that will allow them to sell tons and tons of (on-disc, I'm sure) DLC. So I think things are going to keep going downhill for them from here.
