Forums - Microsoft - RUMOR: Durango details discussed by anonymous source

Seems legit.

The VGLeaks are true... only MS fanboys are saying there are not (I don't now why?).

The BC with a CPU/GPU from 360 is probable and the use of it power in Durango is a surprise but how much power it can add? +250TFLOPS? So the final Durango raw power is something like 1.5TGLOPS? Seems ok and a little less than PS4 (like every other source said).

The 360 mini is a device to be connect to internet and pugged to TV to play downloaded game from Live.

Backwards compatibility would be a big deal for a lot of people, which was the most positive thing I got from this.  Would keep current 360 owners on board who were perhaps thinking of changing alliegence with the generational change (particularly people on reddit); while it might convince a few people like myself to buy the system at some point over getting a used 360.

Still, shouldn't be too long until it's revealed now, so we'll see!

The vgleaks and this can't be both true as the last vgleaks-leak said that you can use stingray to plug into durango for bc. This is saying a totally different thing. So either of them is wrong. Also you can't just add computing power if durango also has a 360-soc.

And it can only do that by having a 360 SoC. Or is the 360 mini suddenly a/some simple tuner(s) and uses all of Durango? If that is true, it would be way overpriced at $100. Something doesn't sound quite right, or people get screwed by the mini?

It reads somehow like this:

And what about stingray can be plugged in durango for bc? Sounds strange...

Two good observations. And people thought PS4 would be expensive with 8G GDDR5, and now durango suddenly gets full BC (add $50 to the BoM, and lots of bus contention to the performance...).

Yes, it sounds strange overall. One thing I read somewhere was a rumor that the ppc-cores were actually also the move-units...

Very unlikely. The ppc cores are "behind" the mmu of the processor. Move units would be porgrammed with ppu code, the rest with AMD code.. a total mess like the PS3 coding which developers like so much....

This is what I thought when I read it but let us MS surprise with what they actually engineered ;) I still think they could do some non-ordinary stuff. Interesting times for techie-people! :)

I hate rumors. I used to like them, but things have changed.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Indie Friendly! Only a $60 license!

... Why is this a good thing for consumers? I'm all for helping indie developers, but there needs to be better curation than a simple $60 license barrier.

I wouldn't be surprised, but saving money by making the consumer pay for the parts on their own separate bill is what the problem is, when lithiums are dirt cheap on the manufacturers market.
