How is death grave? It is a fact of life. There are deaths and murders everyday. Was this a sad event? Yes. However, try not to think about the food chain where trillions of animals are killed each day for the survival of others.

I don't nearly value animal life like I do human life.

Seriously, you shouldn't let any of these comments get you rattled.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

And that is where we are different.  I barely value human life more than animals.  Does this mean that I would watch a human die or not help one in need?  No, because I even rescue insects such as spiders and put them outside.  I will help my fellow human in a time of need (I stopped and helped a drunk driver out of his vehicle who rolled his SUV over when I could have just drove off after watching him flip) but I don't view humans that much differently than animals.  Humans are animals and at times far worse than other species.

Fact is that it's just another tragic event in the world, and there's an abundance of suffering in it already. It's not healthy to become emotionally invested in every disaster and misery that is bombarded on us through the news, nobody can do that and that's why we have internal filters that help to decide on to what degree to react on a specific event.

Yep - no doubt about it, but that doesn't make it appropriate to jest. Jest to yourself and friends and family, not in an open forum where some might take offense. It's just proper etiquette.

Please give me a break... What is this etiquette on VGC that you speak of? A lot of users on VGC try to offend people with different taste all the time. I'm sorry you guys can't handle dark humor. Dark humor is supposed to be offensive.

Offending fans of video game consoles is the same as offending people who are affected by improvised explosive devices? Lol wow, clearly you are in some delusional world of your own.

btw, I take no offense, just explaining why some would/do.

It is pretty obvious that I am not a sane person.  However, this is all of sudden heart breaking because it happened on US soil when people have been bombed like crazy in Iraq and other places.  Sure I feel sad for the Americans that were killed and injured.  However, I don't really see how it is any different than an explosion killing people in other areas of the world just because it happened on US soil now people are scared / want to mourn people.   When most Americans hear about bombings going on in Iraq and other places they merely just shrug it off.  Am I upset that it happened?  Yes.  People get over tragic events.  Do you still think about the Conn school shooting, Amish school shooting, Columbine, the Holocaust, the Inquisition, etc...  Sure it might still be in your mind and ever once in awhile brought up but it doesn't bother you that much as time passes.

Yeah, bombs go off in the world... but I don't see people joking about it. Youre point is moot

I see people making jokes, making songs, making money...  Even though this song is anti war what do most people remember or dance to...  Bombs over Baghdad.  They don't give a shit nor probably understand what the true message of the song is.

I'm going to leave this thread because whatever I say won't be viewed in good light. Face the facts.. Most humans suck

When you put into context what happened, maybe you would understand.
The Boston Marathon isn't a school, or a movie theater, or a financial building.
These are people from all over the world, sponsored by and running for very good causes; They run for cancer research, world hunger, peace, equality, human rights, and it takes them years to train to such a level, and a huge amount of committment. The run is so taxing on the human body that people literally shit themselves on occasion.
And everyone in the crowd is there to lend their energy to the runners, to congratulate them, and to show their appreciation.
People in the crowds are internationals. They fly here from other countries for what is called one of the toughest marathon courses in the world, and we are such a melting pot already, that likely every single country has runners and support in the crowd.

So yes, it is in very poor taste. Not from an ethnocentric point of view, but from a worldview.
But if there's one thing, we Bostonians are a bunch of tough mofo's, so we'll get over this incident and the "jokes". Why? We have a saying here, and it goes something like
"because fuck you".

And that's why I said that no matter where pain happens it hurts (be it IRAQ, the US, etc. etc.). You know, I'm actually Canadian. But human life lost hurts.

Also, I think you value human life as much as I do, if not more, you just value animal life much more than I do. Just today I killed a mouse. As hard as that was, it had to be done. Call me a pussy.

Some people just want to see the world crash and burn.
