I will not be satisfied until playing with AI is indistinguishable from real human players. That's the goal we should all be striving for.

This would make every FPS unbeatable though.

No it wouldn't. Just because they are acting as human doesn't mean they have to be particularly skilled or incredibly trained. e.g. a Seal Team vs security guards is generally going to be a one way slaughter but they are all human. being indistinguishable from humans just means that their actions can be something that an equivalent human may perform, whether that is hide in a corner/run screaming, or yell for backup while seeking cover to keep you pinned down is all down to how skilled they are supposed to be at combat. For me better AI is about actions that you could imagine that an equivalent human would perform and then being able to ratchet up/down the skill and combat level accordingly.

I want the creative type of AI from the Halo series to be standard and for the AI in future Halo games to continue to evolve and get even more fun to combat.

Enlighten me.

Halo 4's enemies even on Legendary seemed pretty striaght foward for me.  (Other than enemy vechile auto aim)

@nanarchy;

WELL SAID. You hit the nail right on the head.

maybe it's just me but when I think of a better AI i think of a sliding scales that automatically adjusts to my play style to prevent me from being repetitive and adjusts the challenge to my skillz to maximize fun.

i want that, standard.

I agree with that. maybe even an AI that learns your play style and learns to counter you. the new ai in SC2 is getting really good. they actually have diferent build styles and end games now. but still a ways to go.

Enough to be my girlfriend.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Play against Chess AI....

Chess AI is brutal

Perhaps because the best chess ai is better than the best players in the world, haha.

But to make chess ai good is surely easier (even though it is still difficult I'm sure) than to make a moving character in a game good (considering chess is turn based).

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

As a nerd very, as someone who wants to play fun games not very at all...

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

A.I. will always be held back. It will never advance like graphics, physics etc.We would be playing these games longer.and spending less money on games . The industry doesn't want that.

as long as it is not cheap or troll I am happy.

i would rather have some great a.i. enemies but with bad aiming in an ego-shooter as what we have nowadays in most games, horrible a.i. but every shot hits you on high difficulty.

and in other genres like racing games or strategy games i just want to have them acting as much as a human as possible. if i play a strategy game on easy the a.i. should play like someone else playing the game the first time and on highest difficulty like someone almost pro status.

So from a field of 12 you want 3 racers to quit or stop along the track before the end, another 4 trying to ram you from behind at every corner, 1 escaping way out front driving flawlessly, 2 making an effort like you and another one driving the course in reverse?

What I would like is to be able to reason with AI.
