I think a lot of people are overreacting in this thread. When any console maker is doing badly they get made fun of. Personally I think it's good that when a company gets arrogant it then gets taken down a couple of notches. It then forces them to come up with solutions and compete harder. Just look at Sony as the perfect example.

Sony launched a $600 dollar console which they expected people to get an extra job for if required to afford. Due to their hubris they were laid low until they finally were forced to become more consumer friendly and also made a massive investment into their 1st party studios and online network. All the while they maintained good 3rd party relations.

Even though I prefer Sony I like that there is competition as it benefits all gamers. We should have more solidarity as gamers and act less like tribals when it comes to the companies we like.

With regards to the guys on the panel some of their choice of words may have sounded anti Nintendo but in reality they are just pointing out the difficult position that Nintendo finds themselves in. I don't recall them saying anything which suggests that they want Nintendo to fail. It's as if constructive criticism automatically equates to people having an anti Nintendo agenda according to some people.

Nah, they were plain dismissive on invalid grounds (it only plays Nintendo games???? lol okay good reason there, as if that ever was an issue).

It seems that they forgot how to do that with the WiiU. And even with the 3DS, Brain Age and Nintendogs aren't as big as they used to be.

Nop, animal crossing, Mario Kart 7, SM3DL, Luigi's Mansion and New Super Mario Bros 2 disagree. I agree with you on BA and NDogs, but there are examples that prove they haven't forgotten. Also, Brain Age and Nintendogs may not be due to them forgetting, but due to the market being saturated with those ideas, and Nintendo needing to re-invent themselves, once again.

I would laugh too, the Wii U is a joke of a console right now. 3rd parties have all but abandoned nintendo even after they said at E3 last year they said they had full cooperation of them. A next gen console already needing a price cut is bad news especially coming off the amazing Wii.

A console selling at 100$ more than a predecessor needing a price-cut sooner, how illogical aye? I get why you're laughing it makes complete sense.

The part you are referring to I believe they were saying that as a result of poor 3rd party support that the Wii U is or will be perceived as a console on which people only get to play Nintendo games. That's not the same as saying that it plays only Nintendo games  without pointing out why.

Your sentence makes zero sense. A next-gen console being forced to have a price cut a few months after launch is horrific news, you can't spin that.

Another person who presumes that the unofficial pricecut is tantamount to an official one?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

And that is why your website failed.

Explain where I am wrong?

Everywhere (and just because I know you're the type of user to report me for this, look at my last post, you were quoted, and also take a look at isawyoshi's reply to you).

You still haven't explained to me where I am wrong?

And they know Nintendo's fate how?

They can just get all of their doom out of the way, and then they'll be disappointed when it starts selling again. But this sort of arrogance is quite bad for the industry at large.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Other than Nintendo.

Let's wait 10 days. If we hear nothing after that, then...

No, you are expecting Wii-level sales on a console that is priced 100$ more during the same period and has a much less mass-appealing software library during the same period.

On top of that, it needs a pricecut this early because Nintendo home consoles simply don't sell well at 300$, all it takes is a bit of Nintendo history to figure that one out. It's not spinning, it's simple logic. It probably makes no sense to you for a reason.

Hey Branco in the clip there is a segment where the guy is listing arguments Nintendo gamers would give to say that the U is not out of the discussion. One of those points was that it was about the games. At another point they say that it only plays Nintendo games, so basically it's kind of out of the question. But it's not like their round-table was about 3rd party support, it was about end number predictions.

It makes you realize that they want Nintendo out of the discussion because they disdain Nintendo, they simply don't understand it (for some snobbish reason).

Yup and according to these people the solution certainly isn't games or a price reduction, it's simply better graphics and 3rd party support.
That makes it really funny!

Point and case. And yes it is funny :D

Games and 3rd party support are the same thing. The PS3 and 360 are getting games that Nintendo SHOULD be getting on Wii U. From rubbish like Aliens: Colonial Marines to GotY contenders like Tomb Raider.

The console doesnt have the games available to justify the pricetag. Its the PS3 all over again, on a smaller scale.

What worked for the PS3? Rapid cuts, continued 3rd party support and aiming at the loyal PS2 markets (Europe, S. America, Others). Nintendo need to get the console supported and they needed to target what made the Wii so popular - The expanded market.

I agree that it's the games that matter, I agree with you. But I don't agree that 3rd party support is the answer. Games are the answer. Whether it's 3rd party games or Nintendo-made games, as long as the expanded market is catered to the answer is there. Granted the console would also have to be at a price that the expanded market has this far embraced for Nintendo home consoles (<=200$).

The Wii and the cube show that Nintendo consoles don't thrive on 3rd party titles, but the Wii powerfully shows that Nintendo consoles _can_ thrive on purely Nintendo games. Simply looking at the top 20 will show us that.

In other words, the U situation and the PS3 situation are extremely different scenarios, since Nintendo actually doesn't need 3rd parties to ensure success.

Tell me about it. Case, meet point. =)

What do people realistically expect from the meeting?

Pikmin, Wonderful 101 and Wii Fit U are my guesses.

Only 1 of those will do anything substantial for sales, Wii Fit. The problem it faces is the Wii Us pricetag. The Wii crowd that sucked up the Wii like milkshake wont dish out $350+ for a fitness game that they had on Wii
