Enough of this alarmist nonsense already.

Ebola virus, SARS virus, swine flu and now a duck flu (again).

You can only cry wolf so many times.

You never know when its doing to be the real thing though. Better to be told when there's a possibility than to find out once a pandemic has begun that, "oh, hey guys, there's a pandemic already on the go. We could have maybe prevented it by warning people to stay away from country x when we first found out about it, but we didn't want to alarm you." Covering up an outbreak is never a good idea.

Did you already forget the swine flu mass hysteria?

Did you not notice the hyperbole in the article you quote?

"even more deadly", "Why experts are so worried", "it gets really worrisome", "more and more dangerous", "global concern", "particulary worrying", "severity and speed" "extremely resistant", "no vaccine".

That is mental rape. I want to vomit.

There's absolutely no proportions whatsoever in that article.

Oh I remember the Swine Flu hysteria alright, my dorm floor actually got quarantined because one of my neighbours got it. (We had to stay on the University campus for a certain number of days and report if we got sick) XD

We got lucky with that one, but if it had turned out to be worse, we would have been prepared, which is a good thing.

The article does use strong language, but that's par of the course in non-technical journalism. I didn't find any of it overpowering myself.

And its cool, I didn't take it personally. :)

The Swine flu made are government look like an idiot.

He brought something around 3 mil vaccines ( Thats a lot for a 7 mil population) and only a small amount of people took it. Whats wrost is that it negatively  affected a couple pregnant mothers health.

Hindsight is 20/20; we can look back now and see it as an overreaction, but it's better to have overreacted to a mild virus than to have failed to react to a dangerous one.

I was in Hong Kong when SARS broke out there.. 300 people there died.. That was like 15% of the People that got infected in Hong Kong.. It isn't mass hysteria.. There was a real chance to get infected and die.. I'm glad they acted on this and had precautions for the public.. It seems mass hysteria if you are far away from it but up close you are just thankfull that they are trying to protect your life

It will be no more than bird flu was. Stuff like this seems to happen all the time.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

'When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called the people's stick'- Mikhail Bakunin

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Bird flu again?! Thanks Obama!

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

What country is that with 7 million?

My country Sweden looked like a complete idiot too, I think it was the worst country in the whole world in this debacle, by ordering vaccine to the whole population (pretty much) and the fear was so big here that people stood in long lines to take it (because media spread a rumor there wouldn't be enough vaccine lol). The result was that hundreds of kids got severely handicapped by getting narcolepsy as a side effect from the vaccine.

It is a bird flu. It's a different serotype (subspecies if you will) to the H5N1 "bird flu" virus that got a lot of attention back in 2003. This one is different in that birds can carry it while seeming healthy, and it can transfer to humans more easily. Hopefully, it will, like H5N1, fail to become efficiently transmissable between people.
