It is a bird flu. It's a different serotype (subspecies if you will) to the H5N1 "bird flu" virus that got a lot of attention back in 2003. This one is different in that birds can carry it while seeming healthy, and it can transfer to humans more easily. Hopefully, it will, like H5N1, fail to become efficiently transmissable between people.
