Never played GT5 in my life, but that doesn't mean i can't compare pictures being posted on here. That one picture posted of GT5 looks like the trees out of Mario 64.

And I am sorry, but if only have your game looks great how can you just ignore that part?

GT always had a bigger fan base.  That being said when it comes to spin offs Forza Horizon is destoying Tourist Trophy in sales on a console that currently has less then half the instal base of the PS2.

Spin off? Tourist Trophy is a new franchise that goes wrong... it is not even about cars... it is like you said some NBA game is a FIFA spin off lol.

I still consider it a spin off (still a racing game, almost the same motto as the main games "the real riding simulator") made by the same developer its definitely a lot closer to GT then the other two games developed by Polyphony Digital that are not GT.  Forza Horizon is a spin off that is made by a different developer Playground Games (even though Turn 10 did have a minor role in its development and gets credit at the begin of the game).  Soccer (football) is a lot different from basketball not a good comperison.  Motor bike racing shares a lot of similarities with car racing as a matter of fact a lot of the real tracks in GT and Forza are used in motor bike racing.

Also Tourist Trophy uses a modified GT4 engine and like I mentioned earlies has some of the same tracks that are also in GT and Forza games.  If you look at the whole picture Tourist Trophy is actually more of a spin off then Forza Horizon (new game engine, no tracks shared with main Forza games).

For me it is not a spin off but fine.

Just a curiosity... how do you know the Tourist Tropy did worst than Horizon? What did you mean? Sales or critical?

I'm talking about in terms of sales.  When it comes to critical acclaim its on par with Forza Horizon and probably one of the best games that almost nobody has ever played I never played it and I don't know anyone that ever played or owned it.  And since they scrapt the idea of including motor bikes from GT 5 a long time ago its chances of ever getting a sequel are pretty much close to zero.

Fun to presume things we'll never see happen.

GT5 is a surprisingly unpolished game. Blurry textures, low detailed enviorments, etc. I honestly didn't know the game was 1080p, its jaggy as fuck.
