It's a good time to be a Star Wars fan. I just wish we didn't have to wait two years for the first one to come out. If I was Disney I'd put out the rest of the Clone Wars story arcs as straight to DVD movies and start the Star Wars movie a year thing this year.

Disney has a long history of adult films. Some are even appropreat for younger audiences.
Here's a short list of what I'm talking about:
The Avengers & the other Marvel movies
Tron
Dragon Slayer (This movie is dark as dark gets) http://youtu.be/At8UUrDptn8
Tron: Legacy
Pirates of the Caribbean 1
Pirates of the Caribbean 2
Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
The Black Hole
The Chronicles of Narnia 1
The Chronicles of Narnia 2
The Chronicles of Narnia 3
Return to Oz
Oz The Great and Powerful
Cool Runnings
Flight of the Navigator
The Nightmare Before Christmas
"J.J. Abrams is going to direct"
Sigh, sad face.
Well, he produced Cloverfield, so maybe there is some hope. But I can't think of a movie he directed that I thought was rather good.

I've thought about it and I think they'll start "fresh" or atleast somewhat. I don't think they'll use much of the material in the books.

Yeah, I think the same thing.

I agree with you, but I haven't seen Cloverfield, so I can't comment about that movie.
I hope Star Trek 2 won't end up like his first one. Well it has to be better because it's the next installment, but still.

Cloverfield, in my opinion, is sneakily well crafted - outside of terrible shaky cam. It's better on a smaller screen like a TV than in a Cinema. (And have a good sound system!) There are clues and subtleties throughout the movie that allude to other things.
Sigh, Star Trek. I had fairly intelligent people love it and HATE other more science fiction movies for it's 'unscientific' principals. I really wondered what they saw.
I loved the J.J directed Star Trek & Super 8, also loved the J.J produced Cloverfield.
So really, he's the only bit of hope I have for the film.
I really wonder how much (if any) of the bloated carcas that is the expanded universe they will keep. Honestly, as long as Thrawn and the Chiss are still around, I really don't care if they scrap everything else.
