Playstation 3 which was $599 for the first half of it's launch year reached 8 million by the time a year hit after it launched in the U.S, and was well over 10 million it's first year in total on the market..

PS3's first year was considered a failure, and brought stories of sony dropping the console altogether early

My prediction is sales plummeting when the real next gen consoles hit the market and the masses notice that they aren't getting any of the high profile games like GTA5, MGS5 on the Wii-U or any games that run on the next gen engines... Someone has to be a pretty hardcore Mario fan to spend that kind of money on the Wii-U. Only thing that could save them now is a pricedrop to below $200.

I've said for a while that the Wii U will have an installed userbase over 10m at the end of the year. We've already seen sales numbers pick up just with the releases of Need For Speed Most Wanted, Monster Hunter 3G Ultimate and Lego City Undercover, once the likes of The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U, Game & Wario, Wind Waker HD, 3D Mario, Mario Kart 8 and whatever Megatons that Nintendo are going to announce at E3 have been released I can easily see the Wii U having an installed userbase over 10m before the end of the year.

Okay, I can swing that. I think your max is completely out of the question honestly. 8mil is a go for me. I also think Wii U maybe slightly over tracked from 2012. Wii U had 3mil shipped and supposidly had 2.2mil sold. 800k is a tad supply constrained in my opinion and it was readily availble during the season at any store. I will make my call on that after Nintendo releases financials. I'm not expecting much more than 3.5mil shipped for nintendo during this quarter. They only sold 120k (Probably close to 200k after March NPD) in US so far and about 200k in Japan this quater and I can not see just 600-700k on shelves.

Yeah i dont really see my max happening either but I had to take into consideration if it blows up during the holidays which i wont rule out but still doubtful.

I don't think you would need to change anything. If it is it wouldn't be anything significant in the grand scheme of things. I'll reserve final judgement until Nintendo's financials.

We talked about this. You expect Wii U to start selling 105k a week starting now through October. If you turn out to be correct it won't be because you were right though.

So you are saying for 2013 it will sell between 8 and 11 million units?
I have to say, this is quite the joke of a prediction. It will struggle to reach 6 million on the year.

That actually isn't what you said. What you said was, in order to reach your prediction of 8-11, it will need to sell between 5-8m from now until December. I assume because December will yield the additional 2-3 million in order to reach your prediction. 

Either that, or you're really bad at explaining what your prediction actually is.

Either way, there is no possibility of it selling between 5 and 8m in the next 8 months. Not even 5m over the course of the next 9 months. Especially when it's at 150k per month right now.
