No bundle and the game didn't go below 15k per week this year yet... it is GT not a frontloaded franchise... legs is strong here. GT5
I think people are ,missing the fact that gearsj isn't mjust a prequel, but a spinoff. It did perfectly fine for what it is. Compared to gowa which was announced earlier, had more e3 coverage and had its own multi million dolla superbowl spot. Gowa is more of a flop compared to gearsj, and look at that massive 2nd week drop.

jaywood, i gotta ask, how in the hell do you manage to make every single thread you make, unintentionally a flame war?

As we've discussed before, this isn't entirely correct. Epic had a hand in the multiplayer portion. Besides, I doubt most buyers, in this case, would know who specifically developed what, making it a fairly moot point. More importantly, neither of these two had particularly strong openings, but as prequels, you couldn't ask for/expect much more. |
Bulletstorm was great. It's not like People Can Fly are a bunch of amateurs. =P
I know it's not related to what you said, but hey, I wanted to say it.

"had a hand" = irrelevant. It's like saying Infinity Ward helped with MW3. Eh.. whatever shell of a staff they had lefted might have "had a hand" in it but you could clearly tell the game was made by entirely different people. Judgement is no different. Only 1 Gears head I know bought the game, the rest passed on it because "Epic isn't making it".
The whole "prequel" angle is pretty overblown on this topic by some trying to justify disappointing Ascension sales. Maybe it's the simple matter of there being loads of games out on PS3/360 in both of these franchises already and you're talking about two full priced games that could have easily been DLC.
God Of War Ascension should win over the course of the year unless Microsoft decide to bundle Gears at christmas. All the Gears games have been front loaded previously so the marginal amount it sold more in the first week will be wiped out within the first 4 weeks.

This is why most of your threads become flame war. You can't make a thread and attack a whole group of people just a few post later when you don't like the reactions. I have always questioned your intentions when I see a thread from you, stop making it so obvious.

Next weeks ad for Best Buy here already had Judgment's price dropped to 49.99, God of War still full price. If judgment's price drops quickly I'd see a jump in sales.
