Did anyone find it weird that the guy from the nights watch, john snows friend was still alive in season 3? When I think back at the season 2 finale, it looked like that guy was a goner with all those white walkers.

I just think that the leader of the WW did not see him as a threat so he left him be. The thing that attacked him was a straggler I guess. 

Ya I still found it a bit weird though since there were tons of them around. It's kinda hard to beleive not one in the whole army would kill him. I guess after the leader ignored him he could have ran though like we see him doing in the begining of season 3.

Wow I haven't read the books yet, but having Sam killing it would def have been better. The impression I got from Sam was that he was a coward. He didn't even bother fighting it and just try to squirm away.

I think that after he was portrayed in the series so far, that would be hard to believe. He's not ready to be a bad ass yet. 

Ya, the only thing is if I start reading it, I'll end up reading all the books. I would just spoil myself for the tv show and the excitement of each episode would diminsh for me personally. Quite frankly throughout most of the series, I thought the white walkers were just mindless zombie like creatures. That changed though when I saw them in the season 2 finale with the leader on horseback.

Yea I was upset when he didn't kill an "other" in the first episode.  Been a while since I read the books, so I thought maybe it was because he killed one later and I was wrong about when.

But it was just dumb.  He had a perfect oppertunity to kill one when that stragler came, and yet was the stragler even an "other" or was it just a whight?  Looked like a wight to me, and due to being killed by fire.   

They shoudl have had it be an "other" and let Sam kill it and and kill it with dragon glass as well.  no Idea why they changed it.  There was easily a scene they gave that let it happen, yet they changed it.  Very strange.

Also why did they make it so that Sam didn't send out the ravens.  He in the books managed to send a message

They took Sams awesome moments and made him into a total failure.  

just watched e02. bran-actor definitely grew up a lot but given that we don't really know how time progresses in the books it's ok with this. i was looking forward to margerys grandmother and wasn't disappointed. i liked her also a lot in the book. the rest is just usual story progress but that's not bad given the high standard of the series.

Ohh god damnit they skipped yet another battle -.-
