I find it funny how some people only realised now that GoW games are light on story. The interesting part is the mithology. The story is completely ridiculous to non-existant. Kratos is angry, kratos kills. Its about as deep as the Hulk.

GoW games are for good graphics and mindless hack and slash fun.

you never played one have you? the stories have always been deeper than most games ever made. the narrative story telling by gia is also epic

I am appauled. Look at this: Spartan warrior that revolts against his God after his family been killed, discovers he is the son of one of them and decides to kill them all because they are selfish and unruly.God of war storyline in a nuttshell. Theres nothing deep about it. You want deep? Go play metal gear solid or kingdom hearts, dont make me laugh.

Oh and for the record i kept it vague because of spoilers. Sadly for you i have played all of them except 3. I quite enjoy the mythos.

You know you can take any games story and give the storyline in one sentence right.  That doesn't mean that it barely has a story at all.

For example:  Mass effect = Human soldier who works with other alien species to save the world.

Uncharted = Treasure hunter who goes on a search for the greatest treasures on Earth.

Assassin's Creed = Modern day hero relives his ancestors past to save the world.

Far Cry 3 = Man trapped on island has to kill to survive to save himself and his friends.

TLOU = Man takes girl across the US and fights both humans and infected.

Crysis 2 & 3 = Explosions, explosions, aliens, explosions, humans, aliens, explosions.

Gears of War = A war between humans and creatures called locusts.

I can keep going if you like, but I think I got my point across

You're not very good at making summaries. Most of those are extremely incomplete so you can try and get your point across. Those are nothing like the summary i made of God of war. You are not giving me plots you are giving me settings.

Tell me how even one of those discribes the setting of the game.  I don't know what to say if you can't see that the summary of my examples are a part of their plots.  Your summary of God of War is horrible too.  I and many others could tell you many plot details your missing in your little "summary".

And I don't think I'm coming back to this potentially idiotic argument.

opinion are opinion although i respect your opinion I rather enjoyed the game.  I thought the graphics looks great, although the single player is a little short I agree with you there.  However I had fun playing the game and multiplayer better than I thought it was going to be.

I pretty much agree with all the points of the OP. As much as I wanted to say the reviews were unfair since I'm a massive GOW fan, after two playthroughs I know it really got the reviews it deserved. It just doesn't have the magic of any of the other games, and I found myself bored through several sections of the campaign, especially on a 2nd playthrough. The last half is particularly underwhelming considering it takes place all in one setting essentially, and gets really monotonous.

The story is actually laughably pathetic. It's like the devs spent all of 10 minutes coming up with it. You know it sucks when the stories of the two PSP games put it to shame, since those stories were pretty forgettable too. And where were all the bosses in this game? It felt like deja vu of the first GOW where there were only 3 or so real bosses, and that was always the only complaint I had with the first game. Multiplayer was entirely unnecessary. Reminds me exactly of Metroid Prime 2's multiplayer. Sure it wasn't a broken mess, but it wasn't really any fun either. Some series are simply single player affairs.

Oh well, 1 misstep after 5 killer games doesn't worry me too much though. As long as they learn from the mistakes here I think the series will get back on track next gen with GOW4.

You make me lose hope in humanity. You dont know what a summary is and you dont know how to write one. I think theres nothing else to discuss here.

the only part i'd agree was the story it was pretty bland; they seems to humanize Kratos was too much.

other than that I'd had to disagree; the game is just as long as any other mainline god of war titles, the lack of weapon and magic is what made the combat so fun and challenging; you couldn't just swing your blades round until all enemies were gone because now they dodge/counter(parry)/grab also the game serverly limited your magic do you couldn't do the same, not calling you out but it seems the core GoW fans have nothing but priase for the new combat system.as for weapons you did basically have like four (sword, shield, club, spear) though you didn't keep them the enemies basically had them around every corner.

and for those jaggies...where? not saying this game is perfect but clearly the best looking game on consoles, on my 2nd playthrough and really can't seen anything that really stands out to call it jaggy
