Why? It's still not being developed by Nintendo.
I'd say it will have some importance, when it was announced the internet had a mini-meltdown, and some nintendo fans talked as if it was the beginning of Ninty scopping titles left and right( not here on VGC;albeit it seemed to me they didn't know the real reason behind Bayonneta 2)
if it doesn't sell well which I'm inclined to believe it won't, it will look foolish on Ninty to helping to develop; money wise, and it would proably alienate other 3rd-parties devs
I'm to going to buy it since I like what I have seen from Platinum Games these past years. I won't be buying 101 though.
I hope the rumors are correct, in which a new trailer for this title would be released.

You are right, the overall sales from Bayonetta 1 is two million copies, so, it is safe to predict at least 500k on WiiU, and at least 100k more consoles sold.
I think paying for third party exclusives and publish them (W101, Monster Hunter, Bayonetta, SMTxFE, Lego City, Ninja Gaiden) is Nintendo's new way to differentiate themselfs from the competition. Nintendo already knows they won't get good third party support and it has been that way since the N64 for no apparent reason. Third party just prefer Sony/Microsoft to release their AAA games on. Nintendo already tried to follow in Sony's footsteps with the Gamecube, but they failed hard. Gamecube had both (more than mediocre) third party support plus Nintendo games. It still sold like crap (especially compared with PS2). Also, Nintendo hasn't the financial power to convince third party to port their games to Nintendo consoles.
Something tells me those aren't the only games Nintendo's ''stealing'' to be their exclusives. Look at the amazing line-up of 3DS. So many exclusives and it sells wonderful. I hope they'll announce more exclusives like Bayonetta 2 soon or at E3. I actually like this approach of Nintendo more then when they try to get multiplatform games. I can play those games on my PC anyway. I love Nintendo exclusives way more than Sony/Microsoft exclusives. With a Wii U and a strong PC I think I'm already ready for the next generation.

Because Nintendo is not going to pay for every third party game to be developed. Cost vs. Sales will be important. Right now with such a low install base cheap ports are thebest option for teams interested in doing anything on WII U.

Not true....not true at all. You need to read up on Nintendos relationship with third parties. They listen to nothing and do their own thing and when third parties excell without them and make money on other consoles they look like asses in the end. They keep forgetting this isnt the NES/SNES era when they had third parties under their thumb.
I don't think it will do much, 3rd party ditched the WiiU without even trying in my opinion. 3rd party treats Wii U way worse than Vita in only 5 months of life...the only thing that will get them to make games for WiiU is if it had amazing sells overall, and while I think Bayonette 2 will give it a great boost...it won't be lasting and I expect 3rd party to make up excuses. EA is done with them because they're babies.
If Bayonetta 2 fails miserably (which I strongly doubt) then it will just doom WiiU to never getting decent 3rd party support.
The multiplatform Bayonetta was a flop, what makes you think the Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2 will have better luck?
I don't think that means "a nail in the coffin" for future 3rd party support though. The Wii U's specs and Nintendo being Nintendo decided this way before launch.
