The figures say CoD dominated this gen but all time? Mario.

So answer to the op is sadly CoD.

Thread is flawed by no handheld sales included,you cant expect a fair fight when a big chunk of Mario's sales came on the DS and 3DS.Heck if we just include New Super Mario Bros DS then Mario has passed COD in sales.... See how unfair that seems when 1 game can decide the whole thread? Do yourself a favor and include the Handheld sales for a better overall thread :D

Ps id understand if COD didnt hit handhelds but it did and with decent results (2 to 3 million are great numbers)

I was basing what I said off of what was provided to me in the OP. (Which, I'm guessing, only shows last generation Home Console sales.)

Going by just numbers in the OP CoD is bigger then Mario. But then you could just list numbers of the Wii series which is bigger then CoD.

Mario. Period.

Firstly, Mario's been practically the best selling video game franchise for each generation since he's been out. Even if Nintendo has unpopular crap consoles. (No offense, Gamecube) Call of Duty is a somewhat new game, and that right there prevents it from becoming as big as Mario for the time being..

Secondly, COD is multiplat. If Mario was on PS3/360, two very popular consoles, It'd run circles around COD in sales. Though it already does.

Lastly, I think as popular a game as COD is, it doesn't really have a hardcore fan base like Mario or Halo. It's more of a contemporary game where people buy it because it's popular and a shooter, and I don't think it'll be as popular in the future generations, though I'm sure Mario will.

So yeah, COD is slightly more popular as of current, though in all, Mario is the bigger franchise.

it is actually only like 7 CoD games.  They are just showing different consoles.  


I know! lol. 3 MW's 2 BO's 1 W@W, COD3 and i've spent way to much time playing them. But still less games released and all on one console I say Mario gets the win. 

MW3 sold 30m. One console doesnt matter.  Mario would likely not get more customers by going multiplat.  It would just split the customers and potentially may gain a little, not much.

Wow. If you truly believe that than I do not know what to say.  100% percent disagree.
