why is people surprised by Lego City, people has been saying it is an excelent game. Monster Hunter aims for both the casual and core audience. Need 4 Speed and a few indie titles are helping, plus the price cut some retailers have been offering. Legs and more legs from New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendoland and ZombiU are helping also. The Wii U is weak for sure, but Nintendo has been building a good base regarding price and in-box offerings. Wii U is a nice piece of tech, but people are missleaded by fanboys, and at the beginning of a gen that can slow sales.

Nice Wii U numbers in US this week, looks like LEGO City helped a lot! Monster Hunter a bit too.

Also it seems no matter how much Capcom markets Monster Hunter outside Japan, nobody will ever care. Hopefully they will at least make a little profit over the localization costs so the few fans there are can still enjoy future localizations.

I think 100k is enough to make a profit

Don't be so certain, besides translation costs, there's also distribution logistics and marketing costs. Advertisement in particular costs a lot.

Also, the guys the company pays to put those legos together.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Decent boost for Wii U. Unfortunately I expect it to go down next week.

I think if anything people are surprised how low it sold versus the large boost in Wii u sales, it seems like it should have sold more to generate that kind of hw boost, especially given the game drought Wii owners have endured. To me it seems either lego city and mh sold more, or the hw boost was smaller, with reality probably in the middle. Then again with the current tracking performance of vgc it could just be all undertracked. We'll find out at the next npd I guess.

Yeahhhh Wii U! Great #s. Should do 45-50k next week (japan gets DQX)

I know it's been asked before, but why the hell are 360 and DS still on sale in Japan? I mean 100 units is hardly worth it and 500 doesn't seem so either.

I don't think DQX will help at all.

God of War: Ascension and God of War Saga are HUGELY under-tracked in the USA.

GameStop had a promotion online where if you bought God of War: Ascension you get the God of War Saga for free. GoW:A was the #1 bestselling item in GameStop for 6 days straight and the God of War Saga was #2 for 6 days straight. The offer was originally going to last until March 31st but because they cleared their stock for the GoW Saga they finished the deal 5 /6 days early. If you look now they're both still way up there on the bestsellers list. God of War 3 had a half price deal in GameStop online in 2011 for a week where it was the #5/6 bestseller for the week and Vgchartz had it at about 90k for the week so there's no way God of War: Ascension did less than 100k week 2 in the USA. 125-150K in the USA week 2 would be far more accurate. You just wait until NPD data comes, I bet GoW:A will be even more under-tracked than GoWIII was/is!

Yeah, that is why I am also waiting for NPD numbers.   Hopefully the sales are higher.  Ascension is an amazing game, I really cant believe it is not doing better.

Well would you look at that, Wii U's hardware increased when it got some actual games.
