Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo becoming software only in the home console market. Would it effect you or the industry?

A lot of 3rd party developers and publishers are skipping over the WiiU.  Just recently we have learned that Metal Gear Solid V and Battlefield 4 both have decided to skip the WiiU.  We already know that Nintendo's first party overshadows 3rd parties on home consoles.  Do you think that publishers and developers would prefer to see nintendo go software only in the the home console market?

Remember I'm talking about home consoles.  The 3DS has been making great strides to bring content to the Handheld side.  I personally don't want to see nintendo exit the home console market but at the same time I don't see how it could effect the industry that much if they just make nintendo's games for different consoles.  I mean they dont really offer anything outside of 1st party.  Both sony and MSFT offers better hardware, better 3rd party support, and better online services, with pretty good 1st parties them selves.  Will Nintendo become Sega in home consoles?

I still personally believe that Nintendo's WiiU will be fine and this is way to early for me to change my mind on this but what do you think developers and publishers want?

EDIT:  Since my question was answered already.  Would you prefer to see nintendo go software only in the home console market?  Why or why not?

EDIT AGAIN: Since that question has been asked so much before.  Would Nintendo exiting the hardware console market effect you or the industry that much?

Not developers, that just means more competence. Unless there is an undying grudge behind some of them that such outcome would lead to pure satisfaction.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Why would they want to compete with Nintendo's software on other platforms?

Hell no, they already know the trouble of trying to compete with Nintendo just on their platform, so why would they want to deal with that trouble on every platform.

Wouldn't make a great deal of difference to me, to be honest. Zelda, as long as it's not like the last one, would interest me again. I would get Monolith games, probably, but the majority of Nintendo's other RPGs are for the 3DS. Most of the rest of what Nintendo produces are platformers, a genre that doesn't really excite me. Metroid, maybe. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but nothing I can't really live without.
