Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's silence on WiiU to be broken soon

I think everything's on the table already. What more could they possibly reveal.

Here's what's coming from Nintendo: 3D Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Wii Fit, Pikmin, Xeno RPG, NSMB U DLC. That accounts for every internal team of any quality.

I don't see how they could be holding back any big guns for E3, just that people want them to do so. That big ND was every announcement they have. What will be at E3 will be more specifics and playable versions.

If people are thinking there are big unannounced third party titles.... lol.

There are a few teams still unaccounted for, most notably Retro and Intelligent Systems, but the larger point is correct; Nintendo's resources are extremely finite, and (I'm guessing) largely tapped out at this point. A lot of their bigger 3DS titles came out last year, so those teams should be free now, but that just means their product won't arrive for a while yet.

I can see them having another 1-2 projects like Bayo2 where they pitched in for the development. Dunno what that can do sales wise tho

While I agree that I think it's extremely likely that we'll hear a lot more from Nintendo following the end of the financial year, I feel like people have rather short-term memories regarding this stuff.

It doesn't feel like that long ago (but it was certainly during the launch window) that Nintendo held that "emergency" ND for Wii-U and announced all the stuff they were bringing - Project X footage; Mario Kart logo and all the other stuff that I'm drawing a blank on at the minute. Spirits seemed lifted, at least around here.

And then everyone kind of just plummeted back down to "Nintendo need to do something!" Well, yeah. They've needed to do something for a long time now. But there's very little they can do in the short term. Other than giving us solid release dates for games I'd hope are nearing completion by now, everything else is too far away to make much of a difference. And we've seen what Nintendo's long term plans are. So I'm not quite sure what everyone is wanting at this point.

I wonder what their comments will be to the big miss on the fiscal target and the lack of shipments for the start of Q2? Remaining silent in their current situation is not cute or clever, its probably the silliest thing they can do right now. They should have spoken up weeks ago.

I can agree with this. But keep in mind, pokemon x and y is releasing worldwide in october, that's going to be not only a major software sell, but hardware too, then and that holiday season, especially if the pikachu XL is around.
But wii-u will be fine.

Here's my take!

My take: "Nintendo's silence on Wii U MUST be broken soon," "or they lose their last chance to gain relevancy before MS and Sony arrive on the scene and inaugurate their newest and more powerful consoles."

What are they to say? "Oops, our mistake, we're sorry"? That song and dance routine was refreshing the first few times, but it's worn out its welcome by now, I think.

yeah, that's what i got out of it too.  now while i don't entirely agree with soleron that everything has been announced i do feel like the best-of was already announced in that nintendo direct a month or so back for anything that has any hope of being released in under 2 years time.

i think nintendo's inexperience with HD is hurting them right now and having "3D Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Wii Fit, Pikmin, Xeno RPG, NSMB U DLC" all announced makes for a bulk of their development power.  hell, throw in pokemon and whatever else 3DS games are coming  this year too.  nintendo is just not big enough to have too many mind blowing surprises left.

I think there should be a mainline pokemon game released on Wii u. Imagine using the gamepad as a pokedex? That would be amazing. I'm sure that would be one of the only games which could massively kickstart sales.
