Do people really think marketing to the casuals will help the WiiU?

Wait a minute... the Wii isn't capable of playing downloadable games?

Then how the hell have I been playing all those Virtual Console / WiiWare games for the past 5 years?!?

In terms of the actual advertisement, it's fairly simple, to the point, and effective at getting the message across that "Wiiu" is actually different than "Wii." Which has been the most abject failure on nintendo's part. Considering that people think your new console is an addon? That would be called "Failed Marketing." So this is AT LEAST attempting to expain to the general consumer what nintendo is doing.

Obviously it's a joke when you have to compete with your own console, last generation console at that, as opposed to PS4/Xbox. Not that wiiu is going to be able to do that anyways lol. This marketing strategy is very reminicent of the X1 "50 reasons to own an xbox" pamphlets at every gaming store, showing you why the failure of a console, the "X-box" was better than PS2.

Whatever. Good add, because it's simple and gets to the point. A point that nintendo has utterly FAILED to make in 2yrs of preparing this wiiu for launch. But the premise is just pathetic... This thing is going to die in 7 months when PS4 and Xbox come out.

What's Miiverse, WiiUChat etc etc. Crap rookie advertising.

everyone knows the system exist, it just comes to down to games at the moment...

I don't think this advertising is aimed at gamers of any kind, more like the parents that think the Wii U is just a controller.  For that purpose I think it's fine.
