I'm not looking for a debate here because this has been debated ad naseum in other threads already.
I'm curious to see how many people believe lack of games is the main reason and how many (like myself) believe that while more games certainly will help WiiU's problems are far more severe than that. I've lumped the prevailing arguments into seven groups:
A) It's all about the Gamez - Once Mario Kart, Smash Bros, 3D Mario, Zelda come out, the system will sell like hotcakes.
B) Price - It's too expensive for the mass market and once the deluxe version drops to sub-$200 it'll sell well.
C) Power - It's a seventh gen system, with no games, and will fade away with other 7th gen systems once PS4/720 launch
D) Gamepad - The gamepad looks big, bulky and lacks any apparent raison d'etre (reason to exist - ie: it does appear to add any value to gameplay) it's putting people off from buying the system and no amount of games or price cuts will make WiiU a sales success (although obviously it'll sale better than it is now)
E) Lack of Focus -Few people will identify with the WiiU being a system for them. It's too casual for core, too core for casual.
F) Lack of Marketing - No one knows the system even exists. WTF are Nintendo doing?
G) F---ing Apple/Android/Steam have ruined the market. Games are progressively all moving to open market devices like smart phones/tablets and steam. The casual market Nintendo once capitalize is the first to abandoned console and WiiU's poor showing is proof.
Almost certainly WiiU's (and Vita's and 3DS's) problems are probably a combination of some or even all of these factors but I thought it'd be enlightening to see what the general consensus is.
It will be interesting to repeat this next year, if in fact WiiU's sales remain unimpressive. If you have a different opinion than any of the above, please comment below.
Edit: For those of you voting 'lack of gamez' what games do you think will improve WiiU's fortunes beyond those of Gamecubes and why?
