SML3D for sure but I have a bias against 3D Zelda and 2D Mario lol.
Which should I get? | |||
| New Super Mario Bros. 2 | 6 | 6.82% | |
| The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D | 42 | 47.73% | |
| New Super Mario Land 3D | 40 | 45.45% | |
| Total: | 88 | ||
Super Mario 3D Land is the greatest 3D platformer available on handhelds. Ocarina of Time 3D is the greatest adventure game available on handhelds. In the end it all boils down to what genre you favor.
Note that Ocarina of Time will last between 7 to 15 hours depending on how much you care for side quests, exploration and how many times you get stuck (since you haven't played it before). Double this number if you plan to replay the game after unlocking the mirrored world with new level designs and tougher enemies. 3D Land, on the other hand, should guarantee about 9 hours even if you just run through all maps and don't care for the star coins. As you can see one isn't necessarily longer than the other though.
Given your "airplane setting", I'd recommend Zelda. 3D Land is more closely related to smartphone games, so if you're gonna spend hours on a plane you might as well get a more immersive experience.
Okay I decided on Ocarina of Time 3D. Thanks guys. If only it didn't still cost $40 new :(

Was about to suggest it myself (With Super Mario 3DLand a close second). If you haven't played the original, the 3DS version is the way to go.
As for the price, yeah... classic Nintendo. It'll still be $40 by the time the next handheld releases.

why do you even need to ask, get on that!

I voted SM3DL but if you haven't played the original OOT then maybe that one you will ahve much more to play in terms of hours!
Switch!!!
Bah, Nintendo prices forcing me to rent games.
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Gotta ask... How fast do you run through this game?!
I've finished it about six times in total since 1998 (three times on N64, Master Quest once on GC and both the original and Master Quests on 3DS), so I know the location of every floortile in this game, but it still lasts me almost 30 hours on a normal playthrough. If I go for some of the usual sidequests that time quickly closes in on 50 hours
.
With the two playthroughs it got on my 3DS, OoT3D is my most played game on the system, with 81 hours.

I'd say play the original OoT simply for the controls. Also the fact that they removed the bug glitch from the 3DS version makes it so inconvenient. OoT 3D is still good though, just wish it wasn't $40 new! *shakes fist violently at Nintendo*
