I can agree with this sentiment, but I have to admit DKCR is pretty good, and I largely enjoyed MP3. But I have to admit Nintendo's games of late could be more king of the hill.

DKCR is shite. People like it because they feel embarassed to admit NSMBWii is the only legitimate 'old skool' game from Nintendo.

The Bit Trip series does everything DK does and more.

I hate Retro just because they call themselves Retro and are nothing of the sort. DKCR v DKC is a horrible game when compared to NSMB v SMB but it did allow the semi-hardcore to enjoy 2d platformers.

I assume you're excluding those evil casual games that attracted people to videogames and are largely responsible for the HD twins success.

Nah, it doesn't. I've played both and guarantee that DKCR has more interesting gameplay mechanics, and by far much better sound engineering than bit trip (despite some cool effect in bit trip beat).

SMB rapes NSMB in the ass, but DKCR actually brings some awesome to the franchise. My personal opinion on the matter.
