Forums - Gaming - What will be the first console game of 2013 to score a 90+ Metacritic?

Which game will hit 90 or better first?

Gears of War Judgement 20 5.85%

The Last of Us 122 35.67%

Beyond 2 Souls 3 0.88%

Bioshock Infinite 122 35.67%

Pikmin 3 37 10.82%

Grand Theft Auto 5 20 5.85%

Unannounced Next Xbox game 1 0.29%

Unannounced PS4 game 0 0%

Unannounced Wii U game 10 2.92%

Other 7 2.05%

Total:342

I think The Last of Us has a good shot, if not, I think GTAV will easily bag it later. Not sure about Bioshock Infinite, but it's probably because I've never really been a fan of Bioshock and it's hard to imagine it being rated high than a game like The Last of Us. Still, that will also probably have a decent shot.

GTAV, on the other hand, is a GTA game, which reviewers seem to absolutely adore. I've never seen a series where reviewers are so willing to ignore flaws. So, yeah, that gets my vote.

What is wrong with the GTAs? Where are the flaws?

The driving mechanics of GTA 4 are a joke and the story was pretty bad too.

Yes, driving requires way more skills as GTAs before. Story is something we can measure only bad. I say it didn't appeal to me as the story in VC but it was fully packed with cool people and nice twists. To me it was just the setting somehow, the story elements were definitely way above average to me.

Driving requires skill in Gran Tourismo, but the driving in GTA 4 is just bad. I really like the characters but the story isn´t that. That being said, it still is overall a great but it has its flaws just like every other game. And it set a benchmark at the time it got released.

Sure, looking at the time it was released it was a milestone. Driving was horrible to me in the beginning but now I can drive quite flawlessly. Whatever ;) I just wanted to say that the flaws are present but suggesting reviewers were willing to ignore it is a bit too much for me.

Bioshock Infinite. Pikmin 3 will for sure, too.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

I know hate it when people claim bullshit like this.

It's sort of a strange poll, though. Presumably at least a couple of the games listed will undoubtedly reach 90+, but their release dates are months away. So by default Bioshock will be the answer to your question, but I think at least a handful of the games coming out this year have the potential to be 90+

So far BioShock Infinite will be the first game this year to score 90+ Metacritic,
