The driving mechanics of GTA 4 are a joke and the story was pretty bad too.

Yes, driving requires way more skills as GTAs before. Story is something we can measure only bad. I say it didn't appeal to me as the story in VC but it was fully packed with cool people and nice twists. To me it was just the setting somehow, the story elements were definitely way above average to me.

Driving requires skill in Gran Tourismo, but the driving in GTA 4 is just bad. I really like the characters but the story isn´t that. That being said, it still is overall a great but it has its flaws just like every other game. And it set a benchmark at the time it got released.

Sure, looking at the time it was released it was a milestone. Driving was horrible to me in the beginning but now I can drive quite flawlessly. Whatever ;) I just wanted to say that the flaws are present but suggesting reviewers were willing to ignore it is a bit too much for me.
