Forums - Nintendo - Does the Wii U playing Watch Dogs say anything about how it would compete against other next gen consoles?

Here goes this "there is this guy on YouTube" comment by me, but something is in the back of my mind now by some guy I thimk called "Nin Tendo" or something.  In response to people saying the Wii U is underpowered, his reply is "It is getting Watch_Dogs!  The Wii U is supposed to be SO underpowered, how can you say that it is underpowered if it gets Watch_Dogs?"  Well Watch_Dogs is coming to the PS3 and XBox 360 also.  So, I am curious, on what way can Watch_Dogs be used as evidence that the Wii U has sufficient power next to the PS4 and Microsoft's offerings for next gen content.  Can someone explain?

It's not evidence at all, the person who posted that is merely a blind fanboy or he isn't aware it was also coming to current-gen.

Game engines can be scalable to run on almost anything nowadays, so Wii U getting a Watch_Dogs SKU means pretty much zilch when attempting to determine how the performance stacks up to other consoles.  Ubisoft could probably get Watch_Dogs to run on PS Vita, too, but everyone knows the Vita is nowhere near as powerful as Wii U, let alone PS4 or the next Xbox.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Watch Dogs is a next-gen game that is being scaled down to work on current-gen consoles. So Wii U being able to run the game isn't some big accomplishment and it speaks nothing to how it will compete with PS4 and XBox 720. You can also add to this the fact that Ubisoft is the publisher, they are a great relationship with Nintendo.

If PS3 and X360 run it, Wii U can also run it.

Which isn't much of an achievement as we know all these three versions will probably not be PS4/720 levels of graphical quality.

The best news is that Wii U is getting a port and it should be decent enough to be at least above PS3 and 360 versions.

Watch Dogs on WiiU will probably look like GTA4 on the Xbox360, not bad at all, but not "next gen graphics" by any chance.

Wii U is not underpowered for a seven-year-old console, but it probably is for a five-month-old one.

LMAO. I've never actually seen someone transcribe that before. Nice job.

It's surely going to be interesting. It certainly looks like it's made for next gen systems, so I hope we do see a difference between PS360WiiU and the PCPS4NextBox version.

Maybe even a difference between PS360 and WiiU versions.

I should have used Google to find the more correct way to type his grunts out. Anyways what area do you think Nintendo should have provided more on? CPU? GPU? RAM? To meet their price point I don't see anything they could have done more of for cheap except maybe increase RAM from 2 - 4 GB.
