Forums - Nintendo - Does the Wii U playing Watch Dogs say anything about how it would compete against other next gen consoles?

No.

Watch Dogs is destined to became failure on WiiU, Nintendo fans dislike multiplatform games.

Nintendo know this very well BUT they did almost nothing (Retro and Monolithsoft are only notable exceptions)

The fact it gets WD doesn't mean a thing. Two things will matter.

1 - does it look noticeably better than PS360? Does it look more like the PS360 or more like the PS4/720 version?

2 - do they use the GamePad in an interesting way that adds depth to the experience. This should be the focus point on Wii U. I think that Nintendo should even go as far as paying 3rd parties for doing something more than just putting the minimap and hud on the GamePad. They invested so much money into this controller, they can't allow it go underutilised. They should cover the cost of a small team working just on using the GamePad, as that could be something that would convince people to pick up the Wii U version over PS360 or even next gen consoles if it's really awesome.

Though obviously I expect all Wii U GamePad features to be transferred to PS4+PSV combo ;) But considering Vita sales, Nintendo shouldn't worry about that being competition.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

well it's coming to ps360 also ...

Nintendo just has a better relationship with Ubisoft than other publishers.

Actually Ubisoft is generally very good with everyone. Everyone gets exclusives when the time is right (Excluding PC).

I didn't mean better than what they have with Sony/MIrcosoft... Ubisoft just doesn't tend to ignore Nintendo platforms like EA, etc...

Its a good business strategy to get along with everyone :)

Here goes this "there is this guy on YouTube" comment by me, but something is in the back of my mind now by some guy I thimk called "Nin Tendo" or something.  In response to people saying the Wii U is underpowered, his reply is "It is getting Watch_Dogs!  The Wii U is supposed to be SO underpowered, how can you say that it is underpowered if it gets Watch_Dogs?"  Well Watch_Dogs is coming to the PS3 and XBox 360 also.  So, I am curious, on what way can Watch_Dogs be used as evidence that the Wii U has sufficient power next to the PS4 and Microsoft's offerings for next gen content.  Can someone explain?

It can't. Finding ignorance on youtube is as hard as finding sand in the Sahara.

Ubisoft has stated the following:

"Watch dogs is being developed for next-gen first."

"Development on Watch Dogs for WiiU has begun."

"Development for the PS360 versions hasn't started yet."

However, to answer the question in the OP, there are two perspectives: On a technical level, no, because there will be games more graphically demanding than Watch Dogs on the new consoles that WiiU would struggle with. But it could present the possibility that WiiU is capable of graphics that are "good enough" for the masses to be happy with.

You think so Tim the Toolman Taylor? More power! arg ahhhhohh haha hmmmm

LMAO. I've never actually seen someone transcribe that before. Nice job.

I should have used Google to find the more correct way to type his grunts out. Anyways what area do you think Nintendo should have provided more on? CPU? GPU? RAM? To meet their price point I don't see anything they could have done more of for cheap except maybe increase RAM from 2 - 4 GB.

The main issue for the Wii U is the lack of RAM.  Third party games are going to be coded with a target of 8GB, which the Wii U isn't going to be able to keep up with at this point.

Ubisoft is ignoring the Wii U, just where multiplats for next gen are concerned. They wanted to tap the Wii audience with Wii U. Nintendo never adhered to Ubisofts technical requests for next gen.

8GB of ram is only half of the Wii U's problems. The Wii is nowhere in the PS4's league completely when it comes to tech.
