Personally smash because I like the characters more, and the gameplay is better, and there is more stuff to do. But each to it's own I guess.

And more importantly, when you kill everyone, sometimes the crowd start cheering your name. If that does'nt make you feel like a baws, nothing will. |
While I wish there was more content in All-Stars I find the core gameplay to be more fun which is weird considering that when I found out they weren't using the percentage system it made me angry and not want to buy it. So its not that i'm trying to "fool" myself into liking a Sony game more than a Nintendo game, its just I like the gameplay better therefore I like the game better.
i think both games cater to a certain style of play. and that's what i like about the both.

-Game and watchs hammer is towards+B, neutral b = bacon -Jigglypuffs down B (rest) and Luigis up B are not based on luck in the slightest, if you jump right into the core of an enemy you will get that ping sound and the massive hit from them, Perhaps you meant Luigis Towards and B move which does have the 12% chance of misfiring and exploding. Sorry but after 1000 odd hours of smash bros had to correct :o Rest is spot on tho, altho I will give OP one thing... Summoning out Kuma with Heihachi and joining him as he dances after killing everyone is a pretty class feeling :) but still... not quite as good as using someones head as a steping stone to get yourself back on the stage in smash bros. Just doesn't compare. |
Lol, nice one. I have'nt played smash for a while so I kinda forgot what were the exact buttons for those characters that I don't use so often. You are right on the controls that you fixed for me. As for the Jigglipuff and Luigi, I always thought they were based on luck lol, never cared enought to know these two characters enough to learn what you just thought me, and for teaching me new things I thank you, maybe if I can get these ping sound to trigger at will I'll start using them more often :)
As for the crowd chant, are you sure about that? I would have sweared this happened after you killed alot of enemies in a row. But then again, if you are right and if it happens at 150%, the odds are that by the time you get at 150% you had a few straight kills in the process, giving me the illusion that it was alot of kills that triggered the chants.

aye it's definately when you are on higher damage, always hated it happening when we played it 4 player because it was just the crowd yelling out who was an easy kill at the time :D but yeah I know what you mean that if you are alive ages killing people ofc then your damage is going to be high.
if you wanna test the thing with luigi/jigglypuff btw just put yourself into a 1 v 1 match against a big character, like DK or bowser, run right at them and tap jump just as you get to them so you're inside them and hit up/down + B and you should get the ping a lot easier. you can do it on a Giant Bowser too and it'll ping almost every time cos his hitbox is absolutely giant, then practice with smaller targets til you can catch people with it, the move is lethal. Funny trick with jigglypuff btw if you don't use her often, hold your shield button til it shrinks down fully.... just keep holding it. it's worth seeing what happens.

It just seems you made this thread as some misguided attempt to defend All-Stars because you think it didn't get the recognize or sales it you think it deserved. I dont think this game needs defending, its a Smash clone and that's ok, but dont pretend like its better for the reasons you state, because those are in Smash too.

what bothers me, is how did that horrible Alien Colonial marines game beat Playstation allstars in sales.
i think playstation all stars had a good attempt at first go and was crazily ove hyped and sales predictions. But sadly it will never live up to smash in sales and game quality.

That's the power of brand. COD on Vita sold extremely well despite being an atrocious game. Also, Aliens is a shooter (we know how people love shooters these days) and a multiplatform game. Even MOH pulled good numbers at the start and that was a bad game as well. There were a number of issues that kept PSASBR behind commercially speaking. I’d also argue that part of that has to do with what was missing in the game as well (certain key characters).
Yes I think some people were looking at this game as a ‘smash’ killer of sorts. That alone lifted expectations to an unrealistic point. That would doom any game to failure unless it is near perfection, and most of us can agree that PSABR has its fair share of flaws. But as you mentioned I think for a first attempt it was a good shot. I liked the first Smash on N64 and played it daily for about 2 or 3 years, but it wasn’t until Melee released that I ate, lived and breathed Smash – the jump was that big. Hopefully, if there is a follow up to PSASBR they will address the issues of the first game while making enough improvements to make a similar leap akin to the one between Smash N64 and Melee.

I never said All-Stars was better than Smash all i said was that I love it more than Smash. All around Smash is a better game but I like All-Stars more, just like how I think Forza is a better all around racing game than GT5 but I like GT5 more. And yes I do think All-stars was given the cold shoulder just because it was made as a Smash clone and thats all people saw it as rather than a fun game. Fact is the game is fun and to me thats all that matters.
