I don't know about a regular basis, no I don't see it happening for a while, however once the Vita gets the games it needs, and 3DS starts to wear down, the Vita will start to beat it. Playstation systems are always slow burners, when it finally gets steam, it will outsell the 3DS during various drought montsh, and towards the end of it's lifecycle. Don't expect it to become a common occurence though. |
honeslty i dont see it happening until atleast 2 years from now. unless a game comes out that makes the vita sales surge. but i do agree with you on playstation systems being slow burners, even though this one doesnt seem to burn at all

Not a chance this year, maybe 3-5 weeks max but no more! I highly doubt 2 weeks imo

No definitely, the next two years will be peak years for the 3DS, then it will slowly fall, and the vita will slowly rise. I expect the pattern to be similar to Wii/PS3.
Maybe when the 3DS is at the very very end of it's lifecycle. Like how PSP is outselling DS now.

A price cut would help it reach the par set by the 3DS, but it would have to happen over the next couple of months. Animal Crossing and then Pokemon will probably each increases units moved by a couple thousand a week, in addition to the bevy of smaller titles coming. For the Vita to outsell the 3DS in America alone, some sort of price cut and a major release, probably an exclusive, are necessary.
The problem is, I don't know what that major release will be. Tearaway and Killzone are the most obvious candidates, but are likely coming out late this year. By that time, the 3DS will definitely already have Animal Crossing boosting it as well as maybe Pokemon. And then, of course, the 3DS could end up with more than 2 games of note this year. What if the rumored 3DS Zelda comes out? Mario & Luigi 4 is the sequel to an RPG that sold millions, might it be a big seller? What if Lego City becomes a hit?
And to top it off, the 3DS will likely respond to any Vita strong points with a bundle or two. $200 bundles including a game system, a physical or digital copy of a game, and an SD card are a match to $200 handhelds that come with no game or card, regardless of functionality.
nope out of the three regions its seems to me that this will never happen in the US unless a god of war or grand theft auto game was released in which it would over take for brief period. I could see this happening in europe though with a price cut

Oops. I didn't check the front. I guess only the Japan numbers for PSP are strong.

Drop WiFi and WiFi/3G Vita to $199 like Japan, cut memory card prices in half, introduce $50 further discount when purchased with PS4 (or make a bundle). New games should include the new Killzone Mercs, a new Uncharted, portable God of War, and maybe an actual Call of Duty game rather than a ripoff. And get the damn PS2 archives running.
Sounds a little extreme doesn't it.
