How many games does a publisher have to release before you consider it being milked? or what is the time difference between releases? Do you consider Mario milked? GTA? CoD? halo? Gran turismo?

personally i think its a combination of both number of releases along with what gets added to the game, if there is anything new or its just a rehash or a slighty better game. i think assassin's creed and CoD to be milked. but i dont consider GTA or gran turismo to be milked. honestly i think mario is being milked to death.

anyways what do you guys think?

Whatever Nintendo is doing with Mario and Ubisoft is doing with Assassin's Creed

go watch the real madrid VS man utd game, its better than studying.

Mario, God of War, CoD, Assassins Creed etc....

1. When it's released on a yearly basis, or

2. When it's released on a Nintendo console.

Annual Releases that hinder the quality.

CoD
Guitar Hero
Assassin' Creed
Need For Speed

Etc

Then there is other game series that rides success but still are top quality games like

God of War
Halo

Both series should have ended now but because of the success and popularity they are continuing them but they dont release annually and are of top quality. Still considering who you ask you are going to get different answers.

P.S. Another great thread. Well played

I don't consider it by number, but by quality. It's only milked if there is no true distinctions between each game, the gameplay could be similiar in each game, but if it's different settings or characters i don't really consider it milked. Call of duty is milked because it's not really changed since cod 4, just different guns and the story is not big in cod. But i don't consider Grand Theft Auto milked because they work to make it the best game it can be before release and even if the setting is the same, it's very different plus they work hard on the story too. eg Liberty City between GTA III and GTA IV. I suppose it's also to do with how often they come, like Assassin's Creed is a yearly franchise and i guess it's milked despite different settings in each game.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Anything with a Yearly release you could probably call milked, but at the same time understandable.

More than 1 game a Year is taking it a tad too far.

Yearly releases with each game having no significant leap from the last. A series of games with each game having no significant leap over prior game. These "leaps" include gfx, story, gameplay, gameplay mechanics.
