Wii U: A fire emblem game and a couple other JRPGs. SMT series from Atlus would be a good place to start
3DS: It's pretty much impossible to convince me to get one. I just don't like handhelds.

They're actually doing a SMT Fire Emblem crossover for Wii U.

I heard about that but I thought it was on 3DS?

Nope, Wii U

OT: I already have a 3DS and will likely upgrade to an XL later this year.

Wii U: As of now, I don't have any plans on buying a Wii U regardless of any price cuts or future 3rd party support. What will make me buy a Wii U is amazing Nintendo games. That is all I'd want. Seems to be a simple task but my quality bar is set very high for the Wii U and in order to reach my expectations Nintendo would need to have some truly great games.

New IP's would be nice but I don't even require that. I want Nintendo to really expand their existing franchises to new heights. I am hoping for an N64 2. When Nintendo went from 2D to 3D their franchises expanded along with it. Amazing games such as Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Kart 64, Kirby 64, Yoshi's Story, Mario Party 1,2, and 3, and the Pokemon Stadiums are all to this day still the best games in their respective franchises IMO. (In Pokemon's case, best on consoles) I already have a 3DS so what's the point in buying a Wii U unless the games are much better? Mario Kart U needs to be better than Mario Kart 7 for example.

The transition from SD to HD needs to be big for Nintendo in order for me to buy a Wii U.

I don't understand why people say the Wii U is less powerful than Xbox360/PS3. From what I know the old games ports look as good as the others. There are no next gen games on the Wii U from which you can conclude that. Look at Need4Speed from Criterion, that is a next gen port, Is that not worth $350 (from games looking like that)? that game demonstrate how powerful the Wii U is.

Besides games, Wii U offer more variety and better online interactivity than both older consoles; Miiverse alone is a step on to next gen, background downloading, Nintendo TVii, the Internet Browser, the Gamepad itself does more than any other controller so far and will be for a long time, and the eshop is something different for you and developers at the same time.

The Gamepad has motion sensors, has a mic, surround speakers, touchscreen, and everything else other consoles have. The mic can be used in games so you don't have to buy an expensive headsets; the mic will be used on Monster Hunter Ultimate and it is used on Trine2. The problem is that developers don't want to use it for no reason. The off-TVplay is a nice feature. The Asymmetrical gameplay is just out of the ordinary, no PS4-Vita can do that, first because Nintendo patented it and second, because of the low latency effect. The Gamepad alone is a game changer.

The Wii U is a nice piece of technology software and hardware wise; that is doesn't have the raw power is another story but is nothing last gen. Although you can say there are no next gen game, you can't conclude is not next gen. People keep talking about the Wii U without experience it, why gamers don't you reserve your comments until you have try the system?. The demo station on retailers doesn't show anything the Wii U is capable. When I got it in my house it felt so different compared with the demo stations.

Gamers need to consider how expensive the Wii U is. Nintendo has been selling it at a loss meaning that it would probably cost $400. How much do you expect the PS4 to cost with all those hardware components? One of the clue we have, is that Gran Turismo will be released only on PS3. Sony said that is will be too expensive to develop for PS4 combined with low install base it won't worth. That does't make sense at all if you want your new console to pick up momentum quickly with your best franchise. In my opinion they are implying more than expensive to develop the fact that it will be expensive enough to keep people away from PS4 for a time.

I already have both the Wii U and 3DS XL. I will conclude the library of the 3DS make up for the lack of hardware compared to the Vita, but the lack of games is diminishing the beauties of the Wii U so far. Please, compare the Wonderful101 trailer from E32012 with the trailer from the NintendoDirect on January 23rd, you can have a better understanding how the graphics of these next gen games will look compared with the games on the last gen consoles, PS3/XBOX360.

No one is saying its less powerful than PS3/Xbox but its not much *more* powerful than a machine released 6 years ago... thats a big negative. When the Ps3/Xbox have such an amazing catalog of games from over the years, at budget prices, how can anyone justify paying £40 for a wii-u game of the same.

Perhaps people dont care for mii-universe - i.e its not a feature seller?

With regards to the cost, I can only talk about myself and not why the masses are not buying, but for a hardcore gamer like myself, I dont see any value in the hardware ... i.e its not much more powerful but way more expensive... and the controller is just ott.. I dont need a pad, i have two ipads already. I just want a controller and a nice bit of tech to move forward, I dont want to spend lots on something that isnt going to look a tiny tiny bit better than what i have.

Price drop and great games. Easy :)

WiiU - Price drop, Wiimote/nunchuk support for all games (don't care for gamepad), HD Endless Ocean, a Smash Bros that's different enough from Brawl and Melee I feel compelled to buy it, online that works, same with Mario Kart, otherwise a good selection of games 1st & 3rd party (that's aren't available on 360)

3DS - nothing. Not even free with a bunch of games on it. I simply have dozens of great games on my smartphone now (and endless more coming). I won't consider carrying another device around for that purpose.

Why isn't there one for Sony and Microsoft?

Wii U - cut the price. Right now it's way too expensive for what it offers on the hardware front. I got my PS3 320 GB for 175 Euro. I won't pay 400 Euro for a console that's only slightly more powerful and doesn't even have a disc.

3DS - redesign it to include two sliders. I'd go for an XL version of such a console.

Well I got my PS3 CECH 3004B 320GB for 115€ euros Including the move pack. So I guess your PS3 is overpriced  then :)

The WiiU is not only slightly more powerful but I dont expect people to understand this when the only games available now are current gen ports. Plus the WiiU comes with a tablet controller you might have no interest in but its awesome and replaced my tablet.

I used an android tablet before that and other than wasting my time with crappy apps I watched movies online.   Now I use my WiiU gamepad to watch movies online periodically check facebook and even Miiverse and play games like  Trine2 or Michty Switch Force.

Btw If you would even care you would know that WiiU  basic  sells for like 200-220€  not 400€ but as said before you dont care.

People that demand harddrives  dont think  since the harddrives are always more expensive than ones you buy yourself.   What nintendo should have done is make the console have a harddrive bay  so people can upgrade without the need for an external harddrive and "ugly" USB cables to f*ck up some peoples "clean" living rooms.

I have enough harddrive so if my WiiU needs one I just plug one in  and its also no option for Nintendo to produce another harddrive model because that would increase the production costs. (special packaging  more commercial time etc....)

Good for you :)

Nobody knows how much more powerful it is, neither me nor you. There is not a single Wii U game in existence that looks like something not possible on PS360. There is no "understanding" to come in play here, the games either looks better or not. I couldn't care less if the console is more powerful, when the games look the same. To me PS3 and X360 are equal, even though in theory PS3 is a bit more powerful.

The Game Pad is a cool thing, I like it. It is something that I consider a selling point, but just not for the current price. I have a Vita already, so the added value isn't that big at this point.

You're right, I don't care about Wii U Basic. When I'm going to buy a Wii U, it's going to be the Deluxe model. What is more, a Wii U for 200 Euro? Maybe in your country. I live in Poland, my country doesn't exist in Nintendo books. I live in a 1.3 million aglomeration, I go to game stores every few days and so far I've never even seen a Wii U. It's impossible in my city to just go out and buy it. If I wanted it, I'd have to get it online or maybe order in one of the biggest stores, but I would cost around 400 Euro, as there is no competition in Poland to drive the prices of Nintendo stuff down. Also another thing I hate about Nintendo - if I select Poland as my country in the console settings, it blocks Internet. I'm not sure if it's like that in Wii U (it's like that in my Wii), but mot probably it's still the case and I simply find it insulting. This is not acceptable.

I don't demand an HDD, I just notice that PS3 being over 200 Euro cheaper has a big HDD on board, which makes it even cheaper in comparison. I want Sony to release a basic PS4 with some flash memory and with a free slot for an internal disc. That would be perfect, as I belong to those who don't like the idea of an external disc next to a console. What is more, I think that 32GB is enough for a Wii U, since it will never be my main console and I won't buy a lot of stuff online for this console. It's going to be a console for those few Nintendo 1st party games, which I'm going to buy on a disc. 32 GB should be enough for the patches and DLCs, maybe I'll have to add an SDHC card after some time.

Anyways, 400 Euro is way too much for this console for me. In this gen Wii was my first console and now I regret buying it as the first one, because the number of core games dipped and I entered the HD gen so much later. I'm happy I got it, but I would be much happier if I got a PS3 first and Wii later on. And I don't want to make the same mistake second time.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

They're not going to piss off 20+ million users to give you a second slide pad. Besides, the touchscreen has always counted as a second analog. Why would you need a 3rd?

So they won't get my money - simple :) I have a Vita and I'm loving everything about it, it gives me what I want :) There is no drama here :P

TPP games are my favourite genre and they work best with 2 analogs. I don't like this touchscreen instead of analog. Tried it on my DS and just don't like it.

Honestly... Just make more games marketed to a Mature audience. Also comparable hardware to the other console manufacturers so that they can get more multiplats. Thats honestly what they need, more of an ability to play both sides of the Aisle and court more gamers

Long Live SHIO!
