Forums - Nintendo - What could Nintendo realistically do to get you to buy one of their systems.

Why do you give these people a soapbox?

Many will list things that they've heard and dislike about the console, but never would be genuinely interested in buying it, even if Nintendo did everything they asked.

Wii U - cut the price. Right now it's way too expensive for what it offers on the hardware front. I got my PS3 320 GB for 175 Euro. I won't pay 400 Euro for a console that's only slightly more powerful and doesn't even have a disc.

3DS - redesign it to include two sliders. I'd go for an XL version of such a console.

They're not going to piss off 20+ million users to give you a second slide pad. Besides, the touchscreen has always counted as a second analog. Why would you need a 3rd?

It's difficult.... my first ever Nintendo console was the wii, and after much hype, it felt very flat, and I really didnt like the mii/graphics of the games, and especially the on the rails stuff... the wii was alot less powerful than the HD consoles, so after a period of time i then went out and purchased a PS3 (cannot remember what for) and an xbox for Dead Rising 1.

Cost is not an issue for me, if they had it at £450 and I felt there was things in it that were worth my time, then that cost wouldn't bother me... but... I don't feel Nintendo games are for me. I am very much into open world/big story and more adult themed concepts, and I don't feel that Nintendo want to do any of that for me.

So that leaves 3rd parties.. releasing the wii-u with under powered tech was for someone like me who isn't bothered by Nintendo games their biggest mistake. I already own the first wave of wii-u 3rd party games on the PS3/Xbox. So by the time the next wave comes out, they will most likely be coming out on the next Xbox or Ps4... at which point - as cost isn't an issue, I want to play it on the most powerful/best looking/best FPS machine... which by the end of the year wont be the Wii-u.

So the only thing left in Nintendo's Arsenal is Exclusives and as they don't really have a strong breadth of exclusives that would apply to me, this isnt going to apply.

Nintendo need to up their game, start buying/making more studios and increasing the breadth of their games to suit different audiences, until they do, they wont get me back as a customer.

A true pokemon game on the Wii U and a unified achievement system would make it very tempting.

A lot of these issues for Wii U seem to be ones which stem from a new console launch, namely:

1: Too expensive
2: Lack of games

This always happens with a launch of a new system, and I fully expect the PS4 and Nextbox to follow suit (even if I don't really want them to). As such, I expect a thread almost exactly the same as this in a year's time, posing the same question but for the PS4 and Vita. And no doubt most of your responses would be the same, or very similar.

Regardless, I have both and I regret neither purchase. However, I can see why some people would not want the consoles because of the reasons mentioned above, and that's cool. I also expect these problems to be resolved in a 12-18 months time, though.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I will buy any Nintendo console so long as they don't make it ridiculous like the GameCube.

Man you alwasy hate on the cube. I think it was the best Ninty console besides maybe SNES. Why you hate it? Just because it was purple?

Also, Zelda HD better be fu**ing good. We've had 4 consecutive terrible Zelda's (SS,TP,ST,PH) it's time to go all out.

The purple lunchbox thing just made it embarassing to look at. It was mostly because it was a dumbed down Playstation 2 with a broken controller, rather than an innovative Nintendo console.

Every Nintendo console has revolutionized the industry in some way.

NES - consoles all have D-pads on their controllersbecause of it.
SNES - consoles all use the diamond facebutton configuration and shoulder buttons on their controllers because of it.
N64 - consoles all use analog stick controls because of it.
Wii - consoles all have motion controls because ot it.

Gamecube didn't add a thing. In fact, it's controller was a big step backwards. It's lack of DVD features, and the fact it LOOKED like a childrens lunchbox, was just big kick in the groin.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I don't understand why people say the Wii U is less powerful than Xbox360/PS3. From what I know the old games ports look as good as the others. There are no next gen games on the Wii U from which you can conclude that. Look at Need4Speed from Criterion, that is a next gen port, Is that not worth $350 (from games looking like that)? that game demonstrate how powerful the Wii U is.

Besides games, Wii U offer more variety and better online interactivity than both older consoles; Miiverse alone is a step on to next gen, background downloading, Nintendo TVii, the Internet Browser, the Gamepad itself does more than any other controller so far and will be for a long time, and the eshop is something different for you and developers at the same time.

The Gamepad has motion sensors, has a mic, surround speakers, touchscreen, and everything else other consoles have. The mic can be used in games so you don't have to buy an expensive headsets; the mic will be used on Monster Hunter Ultimate and it is used on Trine2. The problem is that developers don't want to use it for no reason. The off-TVplay is a nice feature. The Asymmetrical gameplay is just out of the ordinary, no PS4-Vita can do that, first because Nintendo patented it and second, because of the low latency effect. The Gamepad alone is a game changer.

The Wii U is a nice piece of technology software and hardware wise; that is doesn't have the raw power is another story but is nothing last gen. Although you can say there are no next gen game, you can't conclude is not next gen. People keep talking about the Wii U without experience it, why gamers don't you reserve your comments until you have try the system?. The demo station on retailers doesn't show anything the Wii U is capable. When I got it in my house it felt so different compared with the demo stations.

Gamers need to consider how expensive the Wii U is. Nintendo has been selling it at a loss meaning that it would probably cost $400. How much do you expect the PS4 to cost with all those hardware components? One of the clue we have, is that Gran Turismo will be released only on PS3. Sony said that is will be too expensive to develop for PS4 combined with low install base it won't worth. That does't make sense at all if you want your new console to pick up momentum quickly with your best franchise. In my opinion they are implying more than expensive to develop the fact that it will be expensive enough to keep people away from PS4 for a time.

I already have both the Wii U and 3DS XL. I will conclude the library of the 3DS make up for the lack of hardware compared to the Vita, but the lack of games is diminishing the beauties of the Wii U so far. Please, compare the Wonderful101 trailer from E32012 with the trailer from the NintendoDirect on January 23rd, you can have a better understanding how the graphics of these next gen games will look compared with the games on the last gen consoles, PS3/XBOX360.

It would take an exclusive sequel to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem at the moment. And even then...

Mainly games that I actually want. Pikmin 3 is not a Nintendo game I want. Pokemon, Fire Emblem etc. is. Forget 3rd partys. That's hopeless. I no longer care about them on a Nintendo system. Although Nintendo has seriously pissed me off with their online. They just can't suck it up and make a system like the other two. Is it so hard for them to just have universal voice/video chat built in (that can operate during ALL games), and games that are PERFECT for online play. To actually have it. How about online modes for all MP VC titles. It's a joke when I can play emulators online. But no official VC games. And the whole dealing with DL games. My god, make a NORMAL account system. That you can authorize and deauth systems.

You say it was a dumbed down PS2, but it was much more powerful than said PS2.

There were other colors, just because purple was their flagship, doesn't mean a mellower silver didn't exist.

Wii didn't have DVD features. You love that.

How was the controller broken? It's one of the most comfortable controllers of all time, and it's button placement was innovative and unique. It is IMO superior to 4 button diamond placement. It worked really well for a lot of games.

In the end, it also had more good games than the Wii.

I don't understand your logic.
