This is mainly thanks to xenophobic japan. A japanese developed game doubled the sales of a western developed game in japan, no surprise there.

The fuck are you talking about? DMC didn't do anything better in the west, as a matter of fact it sold less in US/EU than it did in Japan. 2nd: Metal Gear is a bigger name than DMC no matter the continent, it was always gonna sell more than DMC regardless of the quality.

MGR pulled really good numbers, it really surprised me.

No doubt, gamers have spoken with their money.

From the demo, i had great fun with MGR. Will probably get it at some point aswell.

That title belongs to Metal Gear Acid 2 then 1.

I won't deny brand power helped MGR a lot but DmC also had a solid franchise behind and it sold horrible, I know MG franchise is bigger but like I said DMC is still a solid name in hack and slash, it didn't matter DmC bombed hard, MGR is a great game and the title helped a lot too.

I've played both games and tbh gameplay wise MGR is superior by far imo, DMC is the second best DMC game though after DMC3. MGR would of sold because it still retains some recognizable elements to people (not the internet mob) who'd see it on the shelf and running even if it's a radically different game to the Solid incarnation while I think DMC would find it harder as it's not as recognizable in the same aspects at a glance.

That's really weird because the DmC is more DmC than Rising is Metal Gear lol.

I really don't know why DmC boombed in sales... the game is really good... now Rising sold what I expected good in Japan and ok in outside.

Raiden is easy to recognize though as are the MG Ray units, Geckos and heck even the cyborg soldiers resemble your usual MG enemies non of this can really be said of the DMC reboot because at a glance it'll look like another action game just following the mould to most passer bys. The most recognizable figures in DMC (Dante and Vergil) won't be recognized by those not onto the net scene.

MGR still has a solid month and 12 days of legs until GOW Ascension comes out and takes over the charts by that time nobody will remember DmC.

Come on Capcom go to Platinum offices and beg.

That's weird too, because I think DmC is very DmC like, and Metal Gear Rising is very Metal Gear Rising like!
